Exclusive to Kirby's Extra Epic Yarn is the option of selecting the Devilish Mode when entering stages. In this mode, Kirby is tasked with getting to the end of the stage as normal, but now has a star-shaped health bar composed of Life Pieces, which deplete if Kirby gets hurt from any enemy or obstacle. Devils also constantly harass him with their attacks, with the type encountered depending on which stage Kirby is currently on. If Kirby reaches the end of the stage, any retained Life Pieces will be added to a reward roadmap, used to unlock new furniture. Depleting all Life Pieces will force the player to restart from the beginning of the stage.
