'''Island of the Lost Warrior''' is the 22nd (20th in the 4Kids broadcast) episode of the ''[[Kirby: Right Back at Ya!]]'' series. In this episode, [[Kirby (anime character)|Kirby]], [[Tiff]], [[Tuff]], and [[Fololo & Falala]] are caught in a storm out at sea and stranded on [[Island of the Lost Warrior (place)|a deserted island]], where they meet a paranoid old [[Star Warrior]] named [[Kit Cosmos|Sergeant Kit Cosmos]] who initially believes them to be [[monster]]s out to get him. After forging an uneasy peace with the old man, he insists on running them through military drills to get them in shape for battling monsters. [[King Dedede (anime character)|King Dedede]] and [[Escargoon]] later arrive on the island, having manufactured the storm using a monster called [[Tornadon]] to isolate Kirby, and deceives Kit Cosmos into believing he sent the kids to attack him, but Kirby snaps Kit Cosmos out of his when he transforms into [[Tornado]] Kirby and defeats the monster. Using King Dedede's boat, the kids travel back to [[Cappy Town]] and invite Kit Cosmos along, but he insists on staying on the island, confident that Kirby can end the war against [[Night Mare Enterprises]].

==Plot synopsis==

The episode begins off the coast of Dream Land, where Kirby, Tiff, Tuff, and Fololo & Falala are having a fishing trip on a rubber raft. Before they get too comfortable, a massive storm sweeps in out of nowhere and picks them up in a tornado. Next thing they know, they are washed up on an unfamiliar coastline. Fololo & Falala fly high into the sky and confirm that it is a small deserted island. The kids then find their raft ruined, leaving them out of any immediate options to get home. They soon grow hungry, and search the island interior for food. They come across a sign of habitation carved into the side of a cliff and investigate, concluding that someone must have used it recently. They call out for help, only to be attacked with a volley of arrows and a series of traps. As the assault continues, Tuff grabs a stone and tosses it at their aggressor, landing a direct hit and causing him to fall out of the tree he was hiding in.

The kids then corner their attacker, and demand to know who he is. He reveals himself to be Kit Cosmos - a [[Star Warrior]] in exile - who believes them to be monsters after him. After an unproductive conversation, Kit Cosmos grabs Kirby and runs off with him. Having tied Kirby up, Kit Cosmos prepares to finish him off with a bow and arrow, but Kirby's naive charm gets the better of him, so he lets Kirby free. Kit Cosmos then watches as Kirby catches fish in the water, then spies on the kids failing to do the same. Taking pity on them, he barges in and shows them how to properly catch fish, then tells them to prepare for anti-monster training come dawn, reuniting them with Kirby in the process. While no longer on his bad side, the kids soon learn just how extreme Sergeant Cosmos's outlook is as he squelches their campfire, saying it will give away their position to the enemy.

The next day, Kit Cosmos begins his training regiment, forcing the kids to do jumping jacks, push-ups, archery practice and laps around the island. That night, after the day of boot camp is finished, Tiff once again tries to explain to Kit Cosmos that the war against [[Night Mare Enterprises]] is over, but he insists on further training. The next day, Kit pushes Tuff over the edge, and causes him to try and attack the sergeant, but in the process, he drops a pocket knife given to him by [[Meta Knight (anime character)|Meta Knight]]. Seeing the masked swordsman's visage on the object, Kit Cosmos reacts instinctively by saluting, and soon learns that the kids are affiliated with his former superior officer. Seeing this, he finally realizes that the war is really over. After agreeing to come to Cappy Town with the kids, the group is interrupted as a boat ferrying [[King Dedede (anime character)|King Dedede]] and [[Escargoon]] in their [[Armored Vehicle]] arrives on the island.

King Dedede reveals that the storm which swept the kids away was their doing, in order to isolate Kirby at a spot where they could finish him off without interruption. Kit Cosmos then appears and sees King Dedede's arrival as proof that the kids were lying to him and had planned an ambush, which King Dedede and Escargoon quickly play to their advantage. King Dedede then releases his [[monster]] [[Tornadon]] from the vehicle's compartment. After an initial skirmish, Tornadon throws Kit Cosmos to the ground. Tuff then steps in to battle the monster in his stead, in order to snap Kit Cosmos out of his delusion. From here, he leads the kids back through the forest to escape the monster, but gets pinned by a falling tree. He urges the kids to go on without him, and gives a rousing speech which fills Kirby with a new sense of determination.

Kirby then runs out after the storm and uses his [[inhale]] to swallow the oncoming tornado, transforming into [[Tornado]] Kirby. Seeing Kirby do battle with Tornadon gives Kit Cosmos a renewed sense of hope, but Kirby soon gets tossed aside by the monster as it charges with renewed force. Refusing to give up, Kirby charges in one more time, and manages to beat Tornadon at its own game, sending it flying out of its tornado. Kirby then throws one last series of gales at the monster, which defeats it by causing it to dematerialize. Seeing this, King Dedede and Escargoon attempt to get away, but Kirby stops them with another tornado blast. King Dedede and Escargoon then have to flee a whole school of [[Joe]]s who come out of nowhere to chase them into the sea. Later on, as the kids prepare to return home using King Dedede's boat, Kit Cosmos insists on remaining on the island, saying he had grown rather fond of it, but promises to jump back into battle should Kirby and Meta Knight need him. The episode ends as the kids wave him good-bye.

==Differences between versions==
*In the Japanese version, Kit Cosmos is clearly seen slapping Kirby awake after tying him up. This was changed to merely an implication of the slaps using "hit effects" in the international versions.

===Dialogue differences===
*In the Japanese version, during the scene where Kit Cosmos is forcing the kids to do push-ups, Tuff remarks that he's seen anime with similar scenarios, breaking the [[fourth wall]] by doing so.
*In the Japanese version, Kit Cosmos confiscates Tuff's papaya claiming it to be his fee for teaching him how to climb a tree, rather than yelling at him for not getting some for all of them. Tuff then accuses him of just being selfish, rather than demanding he go get his own.
*In the Japanese version, Kit Cosmos pleads for a Star Warrior who can battle a monster on his own when pinned to a tree, rather than giving a speech about bravery.

==Trivia==
*Initially, Kit Cosmos insisted that Kirby at least was a monster, even if the others were not. This alludes to the fact that Kirby was a failed creation of [[eNeMeE]] as explained in [[Kirby's Duel Role]].
*This episode features the least number of characters in the series, at seven (eight if the [[Joe]]s are counted as one, and not counting the [[Kirby of the Stars Pilot]]).
