'''Walky''' is an anthropomorphic microphone [[enemy]] which makes regular appearances in the [[Kirby (series)|''Kirby'' series]], first appearing in ''[[Kirby Super Star]]''. He resembles a sentient old stage microphone with red feet and a mouth, and his sides each have a yellow hinge that connect the dark blue head with the yellow or tan mouth. Walky is typically found walking around or sitting in place; when Kirby draws near, he attacks by singing, shooting out harmful musical note projectiles. In all of his appearances, if [[Kirby]] inhales and swallows a Walky, he will grant him the [[Mike]] [[Copy Ability]]. Perhaps due in part to him providing a limited-use ability, Walky has never appeared as a [[Helper]] character.

Encountered only in a very small number of locations throughout either game, this enemy usually walks back and forth and stops regularly to yell three musical notes at [[Kirby]], which hurt him on contact. Only one Walky in the game, encountered in the fourth stage of [[Dyna Blade (main game)|Dyna Blade]], possesses a different behavior; he moves faster than a regular Walky and runs away from Kirby with a gasp when he spots him instead of attacking, making him harmless as long as Kirby does not collide with him directly.

Walky possesses 16 points of health and increases Kirby's score by 890 points when defeated. Kirby can also swallow him for the Mike ability.

It is ordered from [[Night Mare Enterprises]] by [[King Dedede (anime character)|King Dedede]] and, at the suggestion of the [[N.M.E. Sales Guy]], used as a microphone for a karaoke contest. It is inhaled by [[Kirby (anime character)|Kirby]] for the Mike ability when it is his turn to sing, which causes the plan to send him to N.M.E. Headquarters to backfire, and Kirby later destroys [[Castle Dedede]] inadvertently. Walky later emerges from the rubble - having apparently been spat out by Kirby at some point - but when it sees Kirby again, Walky runs away in horror and is not seen again. Notably, the anime refers to Walky using neutral pronouns.

|In this volume, Walky meets a TV producer named [[Kizario]], who will be organizing a race in Dream Land to broadcast on TV. Kizario lets Walky be in it, and sends him off to spread the word about it. Then, Walky calls [[Meta Knight (novel character)|Meta Knight]] to ask him to help commentate the race, which he reluctantly accepts. Throughout the race, Walky is the enthusiastic commentator, while Meta Knight sometimes provides disinterested comments. At the singing challenge, Kirby inhales Walky to destroy the competition with the Mike ability. When Walky is eventually freed, he is mad at Kirby, and leaves with [[Mr. Frosty]]. On the way back, Walky and Mr. Frosty hear a sound coming from the forest, and check what is going on there. They come across a [[Peperon|monster]], which makes Walky scream so loud that all the contestants come over to investigate. After everyone leaves the forest, the race's ratings turn out to be too low for Kizario to let Walky continue as his commentator.

==Trivia==
*In the English version of ''Super Smash Bros. Brawl'', the Walky trophy lists ''Kirby's Dream Land'' as an appearance (which is itself erroneously listed as an NES game in the American version), conflating the enemy with the [[Mike (item)|microphone item]]. The Japanese version of the aforementioned game, alongside all versions of ''Super Smash Bros. for Wii U'', list ''Kirby's Adventure'' instead, but this still isn't correct, as the only providers of the Mike ability in said game are [[Mr. Tick-Tock]] and [[Paint Roller]]'s mike (although the latter greatly resembles Walky).
*When using Walky in the anime, Kirby sings [[Kihon wa Maru]], albeit badly. In the Japanese version, it is also possible to hear a sad horn playing to reflect how bad his performance is (since he is tone-deaf).
