"Title"[Japanese title] is a theme from Kirby's Dream Land 2 that plays at its title screen. It was composed by Hirokazu Ando.[1]

Composition[edit]

Kirby is happy to start a new adventure.

"Title" is a relatively short and fast unlooping theme in B major and 4/4. It begins with a chipper melody that plays out similarly to the title theme from Kirby's Pinball Land, albeit with a trill at the start rather than the end of the phrase, as well as a springy and light accompaniment. Following this phrase are detached descending thirds that move towards the dominant, with rests in the accompaniment and a high-pitched falling octave response adding to the theme's lighthearted character. The melody repeats with a harmonic second part a third below and a tonic resolution. The second section is slightly slower in pace, featuring a descending sequence of three rising notes. Ending in a double dominant cadence, the reprise of the first section follows, and the track ends together with the first section.

Game appearances[edit]

Kirby's Dream Land 2[edit]

In Kirby's Dream Land 2, "Title" plays at the title screen of the game, and can be found as track 06 in the Sound Test.

Kirby and the Rainbow Curse[edit]

In Kirby and the Rainbow Curse, a jazz arrangement of the theme titled "Go for the Giant Star" plays in the pinball-styled area of Up the Big Ol' Tree, and can be found as track 46 in the Music Room. Incidentally, its key, tempo and role bring the theme closer to the title theme from Kirby's Pinball Land.

Kirby Star Allies[edit]

In Kirby Star Allies, the original version of "Title" plays as the music for Rick & Kine & Coo's pseudo-HAL Room. Unlike in the source game, here the track loops. It can be found as track 160 in the Jukebox.

Other appearances[edit]

The theme is available as track 10 on the Japan-only album The Very Best of Kirby: 52 Hit Tracks.
