Dedede Gogogo - Stage 3 is the third stage of Dedede Gogogo, the Sub-Game in Kirby's Extra Epic Yarn. This stage seems to take aesthetic inspiration from Snowy Fields while featuring the falling stalactite obstacle from Mt. Slide and Frigid Fjords. The main gimmick of Stage 3 is the icy floor that forces King Dedede into a Head Slide. The stage is unlocked once the player defeats Squashini in Treat Land. The main theme of Dedede Gogogo plays throughout.

Overview

King Dedede performing a Head Slide into a wall of cloth blocks.

This stage begins at the top of a hill with a few semisolid stalactite platforms. As King Dedede proceeds down the icy hill, he will start to Head Slide automatically, collecting beads and smashing through cloth and Star Bead blocks as he goes. Dedede will also encounter Boom Blocks that he must either jump over or slide under.

In the following section, King Dedede will reach the base of the hill and enter a cave in which the ground is no longer covered in ice. Inside the cave, Dedede will be met with a yarn mole, some more blocks, and plenty of stalactite platforms. The platforms create branching paths which contain different obstacles and rewards. King Dedede must execute a somewhat precise jump off of a stalactite to reach the top of the last branching path. If he succeeds, he will be rewarded with Fuse Beads and a Lumina.

After exiting the first cave section, King Dedede will need to slide down a hill into yet another cave. Before entering the cave, though, Dedede will come across a segment of ground that he can slide under to obtain a Lumina or jump over to smash some cloth blocks. Then, upon entering the cave, Dedede must smash through a wall of blocks and traverse stalactite platforms. Some of these platforms have Boom Blocks on or underneath them that King Dedede must avoid.

At long last, King Dedede will exit the cave and begin sliding downhill, jumping over another Boom Block in the process. He must cross one more branching path with cloth blocks on the bottom and Star Bead blocks on the top. He will then encounter a yarn mole before sliding downhill and jumping over a Boom Block at the bottom of a divot. An even larger divot will be found shortly after King Dedede passes more cloth blocks and Boom Blocks. Dedede must use the momentum from sliding to smash through multiple walls and one row of blocks. After accomplishing this, King Dedede will strike the goal bell to complete the level.

Obstacles

Listed below are the blocks, enemies and other obstacles that appear in Stage 3 of Dedede Gogogo. Obstacles are listed in the order that they appear.

Blocks

  • Cloth block: A block that can be smashed with King Dedede's hammer.
  • Star Bead block: A block that can be smashed with King Dedede's hammer to gain 5 beads.
  • Boom Block: A block that explodes when collided with. King Dedede will lose speed and 50 Fuse Beads if he touches this block.

Enemies

  • Yarn mole: Enemies that appear from the ground as King Dedede approaches. They can be jumped over or smashed with Dedede's hammer.
  • Red Buttonbee: Bee enemies that can be found hovering in midair. When hit with Dedede's hammer, Red Buttonbees will bounce off the ground and go flying, leaving a trail of Fuse Beads behind them.

Other obstacles

  • Falling stalactite platforms: Small semisolid platforms that fall from the ceilings of caves. Stalactite platforms can be ran over or slid under.

Lumina locations in Dedede Gogogo - Stage 3
Lumina Location How to obtain

2 Atop a series of stalactite platforms in the first cave section of the stage. Dedede must jump on the stalactite platform to obtain this Lumina.
3 In midair, following a stalactite platform that is located shortly after the second Lumina. Dedede must jump on the stalactite platform and quickly perform a second jump to obtain this Lumina.
4 After the first cave section and underneath a long segment of ground. To obtain this Lumina, King Dedede should slide underneath the floating island.
5 Atop a stalactite platform in the second cave section of the stage. Dedede must jump on the stalactite platform to obtain this Lumina.
6 At the end of the second cave section. This Lumina is on King Dedede's path and is thus easily obtained.
7 Above a single Boom Block that can be found just after a yarn mole. This Lumina is on King Dedede's path and is thus easily obtained.
