"Forest/Nature Area" is a music track that first appeared in Kirby & The Amazing Mirror. It was composed by either Hironobu Inagaki or Atsuyoshi Isemura.

Composition[edit]

Kirby finds a lucky 1-Up in the middle of the forest.

Forest/Nature Area has a steady 4/4 beat and is in the key of F# (sharp)/G flat-major. The theme has a rather triumphant tone to it, with trumpets and drums to go along with it. The first portion of this theme starts with the main melody, with an instrument that bears liking to a steel drum. The portion following it is much louder, changing the key to E flat minor for a moment. After repeating a beat with triplets 2 times (with more instruments being added the second time), the song loops.

Game appearances[edit]

Kirby & The Amazing Mirror[edit]

"Forest/Nature Area" makes its debut in this game, heard in most of the areas of Rainbow Route, and can be found as track 4 in the game's Sound Player.

An alternate variation of the theme plays at the beginning of the game when Kirby and his clones are heading to the Central Circle, in the Labyrinth Entrance Stage. This variation is named 迷宮入り口ステージ (Labyrinth Entrance Stage) on Kirby & The Amazing Mirror Sound Plus and can be found as track 2 in the Sound Player.

Kirby: Squeak Squad[edit]

A slightly faster-paced and higher pitched remix of the theme plays in Stage 3 of Prism Plains Stage 3 of Cushy Cloud in Kirby: Squeak Squad. It can be found as track 8 in the game's Sound Room.

Kirby's Dream Collection Special Edition[edit]

When selecting Kirby & The Amazing Mirror in the Kirby's History mode in Kirby's Dream Collection Special Edition, the original version of "Forest/Nature Area" plays.

Team Kirby Clash Deluxe[edit]

A remix of the theme is the second track to play during the medley heard in the normal staff credits of Team Kirby Clash Deluxe.

Kirby Fighters 2[edit]

Kirby Fighters 2 features a medley of "Forest/Nature Area", along with "Dark Meta Knight Appears", "Mid-Boss Battle", and "Dark Meta Knight", titled "Decisive Battle! Overcome the Naughty Mind". This theme plays when fighting Shadow Kirby in the Final Chapter of Story Mode: The Destined Rivals and on Very Hard difficulty in Single-Handed Mode. This medley was arranged by Yuki Shimooka.[1] A short rendition of "Forest/Nature Area" also plays when encountering him under these circumstances before battle. Another arrangement of the theme will play along with "Start Stage" if the player stays in the Options menu for 86 seconds.

Kirby's Dream Buffet[edit]

The original version from Kirby & The Amazing Mirror, referred to in-game as "Kirby & The Amazing Mirror: Memorial Song 1", can be unlocked as music that has a chance of playing during Races upon reaching a Gourmet Rank of 66 in Kirby's Dream Buffet. "Decisive Battle! Overcome the Naughty Mind", referred to in-game as "Kirby Fighters 2: Bonus Song 2", can also be unlocked if the player has save data from Kirby Fighters 2 on their Nintendo Switch.

Super Smash Bros. series[edit]

The original track from Kirby & The Amazing Mirror is one of the songs available to play on the Halberd stage in Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

In Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, it was replaced by a new chiptune/orchestra remix of the theme, which appears as one of the default tracks of the The Great Cave Offensive stage. While it is named after "Forest/Nature Area", it also includes a section of "City Trial: City" in its intro and it has a section of "Flame/Lava Area" at the end. This arrangement was done by Yasunori Mitsuda.

The Wii U remix also returns in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, where it can be played on any Kirby stage, Battlefield, Final Destination, and their derivatives, much like any other Kirby track.

Other appearances[edit]

The original version of "Forest/Nature Area" was included in two compilation albums: The Very Best of Kirby: 52 Hit Tracks and the Kirby's Dream Collection Special Edition Compilation Soundtrack.

In The Sound of Kirby Café, the theme was arranged by Jun Ishikawa, here titled 木漏れ日のティータイム/森・自然エリア (Teatime Under Sunbeams / Forest/Nature Area).

The theme was also performed live in the Kirby 25th Anniversary Orchestra Concert as part of the "Kirby & The Amazing Mirror / Kirby: Squeak Squad Medley", along with "Space Area", "Prism Plains", and "Squeak Squad Appears!".

On the Kirby 30th Anniversary Site, the original version of the theme plays when viewing Kirby number 29 ("Cell Phone").
