Level 5-5 is the final stage of Level 5 in Kirby's Blowout Blast. In this stage, Kirby battles against King Dedede, and then Giant King Dedede. Surviving both of these battles completes the main game of Kirby's Blowout Blast.

Layout[edit]

Battling a Masher prior to the showdown with the King.

This stage takes place on a very large and open platform with no hazards. Four silver Score Coins can be found around the arena which can be picked up at any time during the fights. Before facing down his archrival, Kirby needs to deal with an enemy ambush consisting mostly of Waddle Dees. From here, Kirby then has to battle a Masher. Once this foe goes down, the real fight begins.

Enemies[edit]

The following enemies can be found in Level 5-5:

Boss: King Dedede & Giant King Dedede[edit]

Main article: King Dedede

King Dedede first fights Kirby in the usual manner, by using his Super Dedede Jump, Head Slide, Inhale, and hammer attacks, most of which leave drop stars on impact. One new attack King Dedede has here involves him swinging his hammer down three times, with the third one causing three homing sparks to chase Kirby for a moment before fizzling out. Each of his Super Dedede Jumps also create shockwaves that radiate outward.

Once King Dedede is defeated, he goes flying off the arena. Kirby prepares to celebrate his victory, but a Sparkling Star falls down to where King Dedede flew off to, and causes the King to grow giant. From here, Kirby has to fight him a second time. While giant, King Dedede's main attacks consist of trying to pound Kirby with his massive hammer and inhale him. Each swing of the hammer can create shockwaves, but also leaves eight drop stars which can be used to deal big damage to Dedede. Once Dedede's second health bar is depleted, he shrinks back down to his old size and is left in a daze on the floor, and the stage is complete. The credits will roll if this is the first time the stage is completed.

Tips[edit]

The following are tips for how to obtain a Platinum trophy on this stage:

  • Due to the wide arena, it is fairly easy to dodge most of King Dedede's attacks. The time bonus is also fairly generous, so it should not be too hard to earn Platinum as long as Kirby avoids getting hit.

Level 5-5EX is the final stage of Level 5EX. It has the same basic layout as Level 5-5, but features a different array of enemies and score coin positions, as well as slightly different terrain. The main differences in layout are as follows:

  • The arena is a slightly different shape, featuring a few lower pockets near the front and some Star Blocks to use as ammo.
  • The score coins are moved to the sides, and increased in number and type.
  • The enemy ambush consists of different foes. Notably, a Mega Masher replaces the standard Masher.

Enemies[edit]

The following enemies can be found in Level 5-5EX:

Enemies

Boss: King Dedede's Revenge & Giant King Dedede's Revenge[edit]

Main article: King Dedede

King Dedede's Revenge fights in a similar manner to his main game counterpart, but all of his attacks have been sped up, and he is more likely to perform them several times in succession. All of his hammer strikes now create homing particles as well.

Giant King Dedede's Revenge can send big electric sparks from his hammer strikes that will chase Kirby for a while at high speeds. Aside from his, his fight is largely the same as in the main game.

Tips[edit]

The following are tips for how to obtain a Platinum trophy on this stage:

  • Getting the Speed Clear bonus on this stage is very difficult. Kirby can waste no time battling his enemies here.
  • Mega Masher can be defeated during his opening taunt by using the Star Blocks to pelt him repeatedly. From there, Kirby can swallow the big Waddle and Sectra Dees that appear and then fire them at King Dedede to start the fight with a big hit.
  • The lightning sparks that Giant King Dedede's Revenge's hammer can create will cancel each-other out when they collide.
