Race against Magolor! Unleash all of your skills to claim victory.
— Magolor Race 1 Caption

Magolor Race 1 is the final stage of Happiness Hall in New Challenge Stages, unlocked after completing the Sword Challenge, Parasol Challenge, and Spark Challenge. It pits Kirby against Magolor in a race to the finish, allowing Kirby to use either the Parasol, Spark, or Sword Copy Abilities. The window of time to earn a Platinum Medal is 0:57 or lower.

Completing this stage is necessary to access the next level, Apricot Atrium.

Layout[edit]

This race takes place in a single extended area which is largely straight and simple. The first area is fairly open, featuring lines of Score Coins to collect. Magolor will start summoning in enemies to get in Kirby's way, which he will need to defeat in order to gain more points. From here, the path moves upward slightly, then down into a separate hall. From there, past three Bomb Block barricades, it heads back up along thin floors which Magolor will populate with more enemies. Kirby will then need to hit a Switch guarded by a Scarfy to open the way down a series of big steps. Past some thin floor decks and over a Bottomless pit, Magolor will summon a giant gear to try and flatten Kirby, which can be avoided using a pocket in the floor. Kirby then has to leap over gaps as more enemies get in the way, then pass through a shaft where another giant gear falls, potentially taking some coins with it if Kirby is not quick enough. From there, one more line of coins leads to the finish line.

Tips[edit]

There are a few things to keep in mind when aiming for Platinum on this stage, though it should be noted that the strategies listed here are by no means the only ones that will do the job:

  • Generally speaking, an ideal race will largely ignore Magolor, as he is little more than a hazard. However, he does force Kirby to keep a good pace, since Magolor speeds up when he falls behind and can potentially steal a race if Kirby trips up at the end, even if previous sections were done flawlessly.
  • Magolor can steal coins that he flies over. As such, Kirby will need to make sure he leaves none behind.
  • The ability that is chosen for Kirby will greatly affect the tactics needed to confront each obstacle on this track. All of them are capable of earning a Platinum, though which one should be used is up to the player's preference.

Guide[edit]

  • "Beat Magolor in this race by reaching the goal first."
  • "Press →→ to dash. Speed is the key to success!"
  • "Collect coins carefully. If you're greedy, you might fall behind!"

Pro Tips[edit]

  • "Magolor can't touch you, so don't let yourself get distracted by him."
  • "Use Charge Power in a hiding spot or dash attacks to dodge rolling gears."
  • "Magolor collects coins too. Don't let him lead if you want them!"

Music[edit]

Besides "New Challenge Stages", there is a random chance that "Crash! Mid-Boss Tower" from Kirby's Return to Dream Land may play instead. The screen before the race itself plays "Road to Victory" from the same game.
