The Secret Diary is a collection of journal entries written and illustrated by Elline, which can be collected and read in Kirby and the Rainbow Curse. In these pages, Elline explains the backstory for the game, as well as providing information about herself and various other characters. The diary also contains more lighthearted and childish illustrations, which helps the reader to better understand Elline's temperament.

Each stage in Kirby and the Rainbow Curse has a corresponding entry of the Secret Diary, which can be collected from the Goal Game at the end. The last page is unlocked if every other page is collected and The Final Battle is completed. Collecting every page of the Secret Diary is required to access Challenge 39, and thus to attain 100% completion of the game.

Trivia

  • On the page "Kirby's Friends", the characters shown (King Dedede, Meta Knight, a Waddle Doo, and a Cappy) differ from their actual appearances, most likely due to Elline not fully understanding what they really look like. Meta Knight has an opera mask and a top hat instead of his armor, the Cappy is rounder and has legs, the Waddle Doo has a human-like eye and some hair, and King Dedede has a different body plan, a moustache, a true crown, no gloves, and a different-looking (but still regal) outfit.
  • The page "Making Copies" demonstrates decalcomania, the process where a painted design is transferred from a page to another surface to create a copy of the original design. In this case, Elline painted half of the page and then closed the book to transfer the paint onto the opposite page, creating an exact mirror image.
