Food Boxes[1] are crates that can be found in the various game modes in Kirby's Dream Buffet. Running into a Food Box removes it and rewards Kirby with an item, which can include the following:
Which item Kirby gets is partially randomized, but highly dependent on his placing in the match (Kirby is more likely to get multiple Copy Foods, a Hi-Jump gummy, or an Invincible Candy if he is in last place). Additionally, if Kirby already has a Copy Food in his possession, he will always receive three strawberries from a food box instead.
In races, when Kirby picks up a Food Box associated with others nearby on the track, he will be unable to pick up any of those other boxes, nor reacquire the same one again when it reappears. This restriction is not present in the minigame or battle royale mode, though Food Boxes take longer to reappear in these modes. Food Boxes can also be found in the Free Rolling mode.
