"Snowy Zone" is a stage theme from Kirby Mass Attack that plays in Dedede Resort - Stage 8 and Dedede Resort - Stage 9. It was composed by Shogo Sakai.
Composition[edit]
"Snowy Zone" is a bright and resolute theme in C major and 12/8. As a tambourine conveys the snowy atmosphere, the intro sets up a strong march-like percussive basis, giving an impulse for the upcoming melody. A French horn introduces the melody itself, intonationally close to the 7/4 section of "Kirby Collecting", resolving in the relatively unstable second inversion of the tonic triad. This instability makes way for a shift to A-flat major with hints of C minor for the following violin iteration of the melody. The percussion takes over once C major is reached again. A trumpet plays a rising fourth not unlike the melody of "Kirby Collecting". The melody in both of its iterations repeats, with glockenspiel added to the violin part. Following up is a lyrical flute section without percussion. The previously quiet synth triplets are fleshed out here, while the flute plays a sweet descending melody, first in C major, and then through a soulful E minor modulation with quiet harp arpeggios in the background. The melody reaches C major's dominant, at which point the percussion rejoins. The synth triplets reach a high pitch and return to the tonic through a melodic major passage. The track then loops from the intro.
