He has a very minor role in the series proceedings, and is seldom an important character to the storyline, but he does make several appearances throughout the series.

For most of the series, he is an insignificant character, but he gets his time in the spotlight for the two-part episode [[Born to Be Mild - Part I]] and [[Born to Be Mild - Part II|Part II]], where he races his motorcycle against his former friend [[Fang]] and helps [[Kirby (anime character)|Kirby]] defeat him.


Gus is recognizable by his dirty green overalls, his uni-brow, and his spiky parted hair. His name was likely chosen due to sounding similar to the word "gas", in this context being short for "gasoline", relating to his occupation. In [[Dedede's Raw Deal]], Gus is shown to be quite fond of sushi, as he ends up eating over 250 plates of it in one go.

Gus is defined by his rough-hewn, but reserved character. He has a short temper, but is usually easy-going. It is revealed in [[Born to Be Mild - Part I]] that he used to be involved in a criminal biker gang led by [[Fang]] and was fast friends with him until the two challenged the legendary biker [[Melman|Steppenwolf]] and failed. Gus left the gang after being reprimanded harshly by Steppenwolf and swore never to ride his motorcycle again, but Melman eventually convinces him to ride it again in order to right the wrongs of his past and defeat Fang.
