"Room Guarder"[1] is a mid-boss theme in Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards, composed by Jun Ishikawa. It is one of the two standard mid-boss themes of the Kirby series, along with Mid-Boss Battle.
Game appearances
Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards
The song plays in all mid-boss battles of Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards.
Kirby: Nightmare in Dream Land
Exclusively in the remake Kirby: Nightmare in Dream Land, the theme is arranged as the battle theme of the Meta-Knights.
Kirby Air Ride
A remix of the theme, named "Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards: Mid-boss Room", can be unlocked as the alternate track of Light by completing the Top Ride checklist "Time Attack: LIGHT Finish in under 00:33:00!" This version features the original melody repeated four times, with each one adding a new instrument to the accompanying melody, in a similar fashion to Ruins from Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards.
Kirby: Canvas Curse
A simple remix of the theme plays in enemy ambush rooms across various stages.
When the "Old School" sound mode is selected, the Kirby: Nightmare in Dream Land arrangement plays in Spectacle Space.
Kirby: Squeak Squad
An arrangement of the theme serves as the game's mid-boss theme.
Super Smash Bros. series
The theme is one of the many boss themes incorporated into the "Boss Theme Medley" of Super Smash Bros. Brawl. The medley is one of the default tracks of the Halberd stage, and is arranged by Kentaro Ishizaka.
The track returns in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. In the latter, it can be played in any Kirby series stage, like all other Kirby tracks in the game.
Kirby Mass Attack
A faithful remix of the theme, named "Fearsome Foe", plays in most of the game's mid-boss battles and enemy ambushes.
Kirby's Return to Dream Land / Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe
A remix of the theme, featuring two unique short sections inbetween the original's melody, serves as the mid-boss theme of the levels of Halcandra, Egg Engines and Dangerous Dinner. It is titled "Mid-Boss Battle in Another World" and was arranged by Hirokazu Ando.
Kirby and the Rainbow Curse
A remix of the theme based on "Fearsome Foe" from Kirby Mass Attack, named "Battle in Numbers", plays in the enemy room ambushes of Deploy the Kirby Tank!, Deep-Divin' Kirby Submarine, and Kirby + Kirby, and in the crusher segment of Burning Secrets. This version features the original melody played twice, followed by a short unique section, in which after the song loops.
Kirby Star Allies
A remix of the theme at a slightly slower tempo plays in the puzzle rooms of non-extra stages of the first two levels of the game, World of Peace - Dream Land, and World of Miracles - Planet Popstar. This version features the original melody played twice: the first section removes the first note of every other bar starting with the second, apart from the third-to-last bar, while the second has the original melody with no changes to the notes. It is named "Friend Puzzle" (フレンズナゾトキ) in the Kirby Star Allies: The Original Soundtrack, and arranged by the original composer, Jun Ishikawa.
