'''Black Hole''' is a reoccurring attack used by [[Marx]] and other bosses – mainly [[:Category:Soul bosses|Soul-form bosses]] – throughout the [[Kirby (series)|''Kirby'' series]], with some variations being made along the way.

==Function==
This attack causes a large black hole to appear, usually near the center of the screen, which sucks up [[Kirby]] unless he is perpetually running away from it. If Kirby is sucked into the black hole, he will be transported to an alternate dimension where he will take a large amount of damage before being returned to the original stage. Kirby will also lose his [[Copy Ability]] upon entering a black hole, and most instances of this attack cannot be [[Guard|guarded]] or [[Dodge|dodged]].

When playing as a character that is capable of using the move (like [[Marx]] or [[Magolor]]), the move can be used to suck in nearby enemies, items, and [[Star Block]]s within its short radius. Some variations of this move may also deal chains of hits to caught enemies before sucking them in.

In ''[[Kirby Mass Attack]]'', Marx appears as the final boss of the [[Sub-Game]] [[Kirby Brawlball]]. Here, he uses Black Hole to split himself in half and suck up enemies from off-screen as well as any Kirbys that come too close. After a few seconds, Marx will then spit out a flurry of enemies and Kirbys. Though the enemies cannot make contact with the Kirbys, the way they crowd the screen makes it difficult for the player to focus on the Kirbys.

Black Hole is used by [[Traitor Magolor|Magolor]], Magolor EX and [[Magolor Soul]] in ''[[Kirby's Return to Dream Land]]''. To use Black Hole, Magolor or Magolor EX will first enter the background to charge up their attack, then create a black hole in the center of the screen. In Extra Mode, Magolor Soul will only use Black Hole in phase 1 if Kirby still had the [[Ultra Sword]] from the prior battle with Magolor EX, in which case he will summon it without going to the background beforehand. In the True Arena iteration of the remake, Magolor Soul will instead create two Black Holes opposite each other.

In addition, all types of [[Sphere Doomer#Types|Sphere Doomers EX]] use a variation of Black Hole called '''Mini Black Hole'''. This attack summons a miniature black hole that pulls Kirby toward it, albeit not as forcefully as in previous boss fights. If Kirby touches the center of the miniature black hole, marked by a purple orb of energy, he will take damage. The [[Rampaging Doomers]] in the [[Magolor Epilogue: The Interdimensional Traveler|Magolor Epilogue]] and The True Arena are also capable of creating a Mini Black Hole.

When playing as Magolor in [[Magolor Epilogue: The Interdimensional Traveler]], he can summon his own version of [[Magolor's Magical Skills#Black Hole|Black Hole]] by pressing X + ↑, provided that the Magic Meter is already full. Like in ''[[Kirby Fighters 2]]'', the black hole is directly summoned above Magolor and cannot be moved. This move is used to remove some [[Block]]s containing a star-shaped vortex insignia. Unlocking this move requires defeating [[Hydriath]] and obtaining his respective [[Fruit Fragment]], and it can be upgraded two more times to hit more often and increase its size as well.

In ''[[Kirby: Planet Robobot]]'', a variation of Black Hole called '''Install Hole''' is used by [[Star Dream]] and [[Star Dream Soul OS]]. The attack, which Star Dream always uses at the beginning of Phase 3, involves the boss inhaling with such force that the [[Halberd]] is sucked in unless the player guides it toward the edge of the screen. Star Dream Soul OS uses this attack at the beginning of Phase 2. Here, it will inhale asteroids that can harm the Halberd; to dodge these obstacles, the player should position the Halberd at a corner of the screen. If the Halberd avoids being sucked in, Star Dream Soul OS will spit the asteroids back at it. In either boss fight, the Halberd will take a massive amount of damage if it is inhaled.

Mini Black Hole is again used by the Holo-Doomers 2.0 during the fight against [[Holo Defense API]]. This attack functions in the same way as in ''Kirby's Return to Dream Land'', with one miniature black hole briefly appearing, pulling Kirby in and dealing damage if touched.

In ''[[Kirby Star Allies]]'', Black Hole can be used by [[Marx#Kirby Star Allies|Marx]] and [[Magolor#Kirby Star Allies|Magolor]]. Marx's Black Hole can be used by holding and releasing B while using [[Marx#Kirby Star Allies|Radiant Flight]], causing him to split in half and summon a black hole which sucks up any [[Enemy|enemies]] within a short radius. Meanwhile, Magolor can also use Black Hole by pressing ↑ and holding B while in the air, then using the analog stick to move the resulting magic circle around. When releasing B, a star-shaped black hole in the target location will spawn, sucking in any nearby enemies, objects, items and dropped [[Ability Star]]s. Any [[Food]] sucked into the black hole will also heal the user.

An attack similar to Black Hole called '''Bon Appétit''' (internally known as '''Mini Core'''{{DataTitle|1}}) is also used by both [[Void Termina]] and [[Void Soul]]. Void Termina uses this attack to summon two minions that are similar to [[Dark Matter]] in appearance. Both of these foes will, in turn, summon black holes that deal severe damage to Kirby and his friends if they have the misfortune of getting sucked in until they evaporate, leaving only a [[Dropped Star]] behind. Void Soul instead summons three minions with this attack that rotate around the boss while the black holes are in effect.

In ''[[Kirby Fighters 2]]'', when playing as Magolor, he can use his Black Hole attack once again, with a near-identical control input as in ''Kirby Star Allies''. However, it can only be directly summoned above him and cannot be moved around freely. Any players standing in the black hole will take several hits.

In ''[[Kirby and the Forgotten Land]]'', Black Hole makes its first appearance in 3D as [[Chaos Elfilis]]' first [[Chaos Elfilis#Phase 2|Phase 2]] attack. Here, the attack is named '''ソレデハご覧ください''' (''And Here We Are'') after the voice clip that plays before its first use. During this attack, Chaos Elfilis will turn into a black hole, shrouding the stage in darkness and pulling Kirby inward. As always, Kirby must run away from the black hole so as not to be transported to a harmful alternate dimension. Though Kirby will lose his Copy Ability if he is sucked into the vortex, he is able to recover it when the attack ends.
