Dark Matter is one of the primary antagonists of the Kirby series, appearing in three games to date, namely Kirby's Dream Land 2, Kirby's Dream Land 3, and Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards. It has many different forms, one of it's most popular appearances being a black cloud encircled by small orange balls, and sporting a single eye. It is capable of possessing other life forms and making them bend to its will. It is easy for it to possess Kirby's friends, often forcing them to fight him. While being possessed by Dark Matter, some creatures obtain enhanced and sometimes bizzare abilities. In Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards, Dark Matter attacked Ribbon. Adeleine and King Dedede were possessed but there eye look different.
Dark Matter also shows up in Kirby Mass Attack's Kirby Quest sub-game as the final boss of the final chapter, Chapter 4. Its appearance is the same as in Kirby's Dream Land 2 but it bigger.
