Zero Two (02 for short) is the mastermind behind the events of Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards. Not only is Zero Two the ultimate boss in said game, but it is also the monster controlling the Dark Matter that has come to threaten the realm of the Pop Star. However, Miracle Matter acts as the final boss of The Crystal Shards if Kirby has not located all of the scattered Crystal Shards within the six planets of the Pop Star realm thus far. Of all the bosses in The Crystal Shards, Zero Two arguably takes the least amount of skill to defeat, as all that Ribbon and Kirby have to do is continuously fire Crystal Shards at different locations on its body to secure its demise.

Strategy

Zero Two cycles between three forms in order, all dependent on a certain threshold of damage dealt to a certain part of the cycle. At the start, Kirby and Ribbon must focus the Crystal Shards at his single eye; the eye will be shooting explosive crystal stars at Kirby at the same time. Once enough damage is dealt to the eye, Zero Two will reveal his bandaged scalp, and with increasing amounts of damage to the bandage from the Crystal Shards, the halo atop his head will change Template:Colour. After acheiving a red halo Template:Colour, the battle will change perspective once again, and now Kirby and Ribbon will be facing its underside. By hitting the cacti-like appendage at Zero Two's rear with a sufficient amount of Crystal Shards (and avoiding the mysterious green gas it pouts), the foe will revert back to face to face combat at his eye, repeating the cycle once more. It is possible to defeat Zero Two in two cycles, granted enough damage is done to each section in the cycle.

Trivia

  • Judging by its appearance and name, it is a very common belief that Zero Two is a reincarnation of Zero, the final boss of Kirby's Dream Land 3. This theory is supported by his halo, and wings.
