'''A Trashy Tale''' is the 81st episode of the ''[[Kirby: Right Back at Ya!]]'' series. In this episode, [[Tuff]] avoids responsibility for cleaning his room by playing with [[Kirby (anime character)|Kirby]] and the [[Cappy (anime)|Cappy kids]] when they discover that several of the adult Cappies also keep their rooms a mess. The seeming worst offender of all is the Bookem household, but it is soon revealed that the reason for their clutter is because [[Chief Bookem]] insists on bringing home all of the unclaimed lost and found items from the station. Despite this, [[King Dedede (anime character)|King Dedede]] and [[Escargoon]] decide to shame [[Buttercup]] on [[Channel DDD]] for the state of her home, but their own slobbishness is soon revealed when [[Night Mare Enterprises]] sends the [[monster]] [[Trash Basher]] to gunk up [[Castle Dedede]] as revenge for a trash-dumping stunt Dedede pulled earlier. After the monster starts trashing up [[Cappy Town]] as well, [[Kirby (anime character)|Kirby]] steps in and defeats Trash Basher using the [[Cleaning]] [[Copy Ability]], then proceeds to clean up the town and the Bookem household, while King Dedede and Tuff are left to clean up their own rooms.

This episode marks the only time that [[Buttercup]] has been a leading character in a story, and also marks the final appearance of the [[Cleaning]] [[Copy Ability]] in the anime series.

==Plot synopsis==

The episode begins at [[Castle Dedede]], where [[Escargoon]] is complaining to [[King Dedede (anime character)|King Dedede]] about the massive mess of discarded food he is making in the throne room while watching television. After being dismissed by the King, Escargoon takes matters into his own hands and orders the [[Waddle Dee (anime character)|Waddle Dees]] to clean things up despite Dedede's protests. After everything has been collected in trash bags, King Dedede and Escargoon ponder where to dump it, and eventually decide to have it sent through the [[Monster Delivery System]], burying the [[N.M.E. Sales Guy]] in the refuse. He contacts King Dedede to ask for the meaning of this dump, and King Dedede mocks him further by insisting that he will not order any more [[monster]]s unless [[Night Mare Enterprises]] accepts their trash. Meanwhile, [[Tuff]] is play-fighting with [[Kirby (anime character)|Kirby]] in his room when [[Lady Like]] comes in and comments on how much of a mess it is. Instead of cleaning it, Tuff runs away with Kirby to avoid the responsibility and heads out to play with the [[Cappy (anime)|Cappy kids]]. While playing a ball game, Tuff accidentally launches the ball through [[Doctor Yabui]]'s window and ruins an article he was preparing. Tuff and the others initially feel remorse about this, but then see how messy Doctor Yabui's room is.

Later on, Tuff and the kids inexplicably kick their ball through other villagers' windows and see how much of a mess their respective rooms are. After eavesdropping on [[Melman]], they then watch him take a letter for [[Buttercup]], and they all comment on how nice she is. Later on, the kids continue their ball game and Tuff accidentally kicks Kirby again, launching him through a window into [[Chief Bookem]]'s house. Seeing that nobody is home, Tuff tries to open the door to get Kirby when [[Tiff]] shows up and asks what he is doing. After explaining the situation to her, Tuff decides to enter through the broken window. Instead of Kirby, however, he finds a massive hoard of junk inside the house, and all those assembled are horrified at the sight. Still struggling to believe that the Bookems would hoard junk like this, Tuff reminds everyone of how neat and tidy they were when treating King Dedede in the episode [[The Meal Moocher]], but Tiff explains that nobody saw the inside of their house during that night. After locating and recovering Kirby, the kids are then forced to hide in the junk piles as Buttercup returns home. The kids watch as Buttercup prepares dinner and [[Chief Bookem]] returns home. As the two sit down to eat, Kirby fails to contain himself and rushes to the table as well, blowing the kids' cover.

Despite being caught, Chief Bookem and Buttercup greet the kids warmly, but Buttercup is soon forced to admit that she cannot keep the house clean. She explains that the reason for this is because Chief Bookem insists on bringing every unclaimed item from the lost and found home. Chief Bookem deflects the blame further by insisting that the villagers are at fault for constantly losing things. At that moment, he is interrupted when King Dedede and Escargoon pull up and demand his presence in the front. King Dedede then explains that he lost a pair of swimming trunks and insists on looking for them himself. Chief Bookem and the kids try to stop Dedede from entering and seeing the mess, but to no avail, as he bashes the door down with his hammer. After surveying the mess, King Dedede and Escargoon promptly return to the castle and prepare to broadcast the situation to the whole town on [[Channel DDD]]. Later on, King Dedede, Escargoon, and a film crew of Waddle Dees arrive at the Bookem household and storm in to document the extent of the clutter in a new television program called "Cappy Town Undercover". The Cappies then rub further salt in the wound by treating the Bookem's cluttered house like a tourist destination and taking pictures in front of it.

As the slobbish Cappies from earlier judge the Bookem's house, Tuff points out their hypocrisy, and Tiff explains to the crowd that the Bookem's house is like this due to the lost and found getting backed up. Regardless, King Dedede finishes up shaming the Bookems, and then announces that he is going to visit another house to see their situation, prompting all the gathered Cappies to rush off to tidy up before they are fingered as well. Before they can get far, however, King Dedede and Escargoon see from a distance Castle Dedede filling to the brim with garbage. It is then revealed that a [[monster]] called [[Trash Basher]] is spitting junk all over the castle, sent by N.M.E. to get revenge on King Dedede for his trash disposing stunt earlier. Tiff berates King Dedede for being so irresponsible as Trash Basher escapes into town, making a mess there as well. As the group surveys the mess, King Dedede kicks Kirby in to deal with the monster. Despite Kirby's prior inclinations, even he is hesitant to fight the rancid garbage monster and tries to slowly back away. Kirby is then forced to run as Trash Basher chases him down, polluting the countryside as it does so.

As the others watch impotently, Kirby is cornered by Trash Basher. [[Meta Knight (anime)|Meta Knight]] then appears and tosses Kirby a broom, which he [[inhale]]s to gain the [[Cleaning]] [[Copy Ability]]. From there, Kirby proceeds to bat every bit of garbage that Trash Basher spits at him away, leaving the monster with no garbage left to spew. Seizing this moment, Cleaning Kirby steps forward and gives Trash Basher a good swipe, sending it flying off into the sky where it explodes. Kirby then proceeds to use his ability to clean up Cappy Town with several quick strokes of his broom, finishing up by clearing out all the junk in the Bookem's house. Meanwhile, King Dedede and Escargoon are left to clean up the castle, as Escargoon insists that King Dedede is responsible for the trash in his "room" rather than the Waddle Dees. The episode ends as Tiff and Kirby remind Tuff that he needs to clean his room as well.
