'''Dededetour!''' (also called '''DededeTour!''') is an [[Extra Mode]] which is unlocked after completing the Story Mode in ''[[Kirby: Triple Deluxe]]''. It stars [[King Dedede]], having him run through all the stages of the main game in a continuous time attack with limited recovery items and enhanced foes. Its name is a pun on the word "detour", which is fitting, since King Dedede has to take many detours from the main path in order to find the hidden [[Warp Hole]] shortcuts and save time. At the end of the tour, King Dedede faces a different set of bosses after defeating [[Queen Sectonia]] DX, which emerge from the [[Dimension Mirror]] kept in her possession.

Much like the [[Meta Knightmare]] modes from other games, King Dedede's run is kept by a long running timer, and the best times are saved to a high score table, encouraging [[speedrunning]]. Completing Dededetour! at least once is required for [[100% completion]] of ''Kirby: Triple Deluxe'', and is also required in order to unlock [[The True Arena]]. It is unclear where this mode falls into the main series' [[canon]], if at all.

==Story==
The story is effectively an alternate version of the main game story, where King Dedede sets out to defeat [[Queen Sectonia]] and take [[Floralia]] for himself, and [[Taranza]] seems to not be present at all (nor [[Kirby]], for that matter). Dedede ventures through the six islands of Floralia, freeing the imprisoned [[People of the Sky]] in the process. With this done, he poses in triumph, only for the [[Dimension Mirror]] to appear behind him. Out of the mirror jumps a [[Shadow Dedede|shadowy clone]] of the king, which Dedede defeats, causing it to shatter into shards of glass. Dedede then jumps into the mirror to face off against [[Dark Meta Knight]], who is seeking revenge for his imprisonment. After defeating this foe, King Dedede seals him back into the mirror, then shatters it with a decisive hammer swing.

==Gameplay differences==
In Dededetour!, King Dedede runs through a continuous stream of the [[stage]]s in each [[level]], with the [[World Map]] and [[level hub]]s cut out, and fewer [[Food|recovery items]] to be found along the way. Areas which utilized the [[Hypernova]] ability are skipped, and Dedede can find [[Warp Hole]]s in several places which allow him to skip other parts of the stages. These often require entering a side chamber, or performing a certain task in the stage to unlock. They also play a distinct jingle that isn't found anywhere else in the game, with the exceptions of the Warp Holes found in rest areas and those that were already in Story Mode. In-between each level and inside the levels, King Dedede can find rest areas with [[Big Switch]]es which will save the player's progress and fully heal Dedede. Continuing a game will place King Dedede directly after the last rest area. When a level is complete, the time taken to complete it will be shown to the player with the overall time kept in a top time scoreboard once the game is finished.

Due to the nature of Level 6, it often takes longer to complete than the previous levels put together. There are checkpoints in each level, however.

Enhanced "DX" versions of all Bosses and Mid-Bosses previously encountered in the Story Mode are fought in Dededetour!, excluding those battled using Hypernova. At the end of Level 6, Dedede first encounters Queen Sectonia DX, and then two new foes: [[Shadow Dedede]] (who can be considered the DX version of [[Masked Dedede#Kirby: Triple Deluxe|Masked Dedede's Revenge]]), and [[Dark Meta Knight#Kirby: Triple Deluxe|Dark Meta Knight's Revenge]].

===Moveset===
King Dedede gains an enhanced moveset for his tour, which allows him to tackle any and all challenges thrown his way. Among his new and improved moves are a fiery Hammer Twirl to burn foliage and break ice blocks, a "Hammer Wave" projectile which works similarly to [[Sword]] Kirby's Sword Beam, and a "Hammer Cannon" which allows him to aim and fire an arrow-like projectile similar to those of [[Archer]] Kirby.
