A Mariel is a spider-like enemy that debuted in Kirby's Dream Land 3. A Mariel is seen as a black circle resting on the ground, but as soon as Kirby approaches it, it grows four thin, long spider legs, gains a pair of tiny, white eyes and begins to walk around. Mariels appear to be poisonous, as inhaling and swallowing one reduces Kirby (or, if he is the one that swallowed the enemy, Gooey's) Stamina by half a unit.

Trivia
- When its legs are folded in, Mariel appears similar to an exposed Nidoo or a Bo.
- In Kirby's Dream Land 3, Mariel can be seen as an opposite to Apolo; where swallowing Mariel hurts Kirby, swallowing Apolo heals him by the same amount.
