Sandbag makes its first appearance in Kirby's Return to Dream Land. Here, it can be found inside the training rooms in the Lor Starcutter, placed on a platform above the doorway leading out. In this game, Sandbag has 999 hit points (for reference, a regular Star Bullet deals 52 damage), meaning it can take quite a lot of damage, but not an infinite amount. As it loses health, it starts to flash red at 666 HP and starts flashing faster at 333 HP. Once it is defeated, a new Sandbag will appear immediately afterward. Alternatively, Sandbag can be immediately defeated by using Kirby's inhale. Sandbag provides no Copy Ability if swallowed.

Sandbag[Japanese title] is an inert and harmless training dummy that first appeared in Kirby's Return to Dream Land. It somewhat resembles Golem, but has no mouth and - as its name implies - is not made of stone, but instead likely just sand in a puppet-shaped sack. Sandbag's job is to sit still and take a beating from Kirby so the pink puffball can practice various Copy Abilities without putting himself in danger. In Kirby Battle Royale, Sandbag is redesigned to look more like Kirby, making it somewhat resemble the Remocoroid from Kirby: Planet Robobot.

Game appearances

Kirby's Return to Dream Land

Kirby's Dream Collection Special Edition

Sandbag appears again in the New Challenge Stages Sub-Game, with the same look and function as before. Unlike in Kirby's Return to Dream Land, Kirby does not always have an opportunity to inhale Sandbag in this game, since he will always be forced to choose and keep an ability before entering the training rooms in each level, unless he chooses to use his Normal form in the training room for Last Land. Notably, the Sandbag in this training room is larger, and has 1.5 times more HP than the others.

Kirby Battle Royale

Sandbag appears in Kirby Battle Royale with an updated appearance. Here, it has the same HP as other fighters, and once again is found in the training rooms. Like the other fighters, Sandbag can be knocked down, carried, and tossed, and will automatically get back up after a short while when this happens. Sandbag will also return to its starting position after a short while if left alone.
