The Nintendo Entertainment System, often abbreviated as NES, is an 8-bit home video game console, and originally released as the Family Computer in Japan on July 15, 1983. It was later redesigned and released worldwide, first in North America on October 18, 1985, and in Europe and Australia in 1987. It is most notable for hosting the first games in now world-famous series such as Super Mario Bros. and The Legend of Zelda. Only a single Kirby game was developed for the console, Kirby's Adventure.
