The Star Block (also called an Inhale Block) is one of the most common objects in the Kirby franchise, appearing in every main series title thus far, and most often as an orange square container with a white star at its center. Like in the Super Mario Bros. series, these blocks, when broken open, sometimes reveal small surprises, ranging from small Point Stars to Food items, or even secret doorways. In that same vein, these blocks have been seen floating mid-air, and on the ground, yet in either location they can be destroyed in the same fashion. Not only can Kirby break these blocks by conventional means or by use of a Copy Ability, these are ideal for Inhaling and using as Star Bullets<ref>{{cite manual|quote=Star Block. These blocks are a common sight in any given stage or area, but are usually not present during Boss or Mid-Boss encounters.

Some star blocks are large and stubborn, however, usually bearing a grey stony appearance. They can only be moved out of the way or swallowed using a Super Inhale.
Star Blocks are typically involved in puzzles or other environmental challenges which utilize their various properties. Sometimes they are simply meant to be used as ammunition against enemies or to hit switches and other objects, while other times they serve as a fragile set of platforms that Kirby may want to keep intact so he or another character can traverse a chasm with a Key or other item. In rarer cases, Star Block formations may be tied more esoterically to other triggers, such as in Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards, where Kirby has to selectively break certain blocks in a formation to make one of the Crystal Shards appear. Due to their ubiquitous nature, some enemies (like Blockin) will disguise themselves as Star Blocks in order to get the jump on Kirby.

Star Blocks also appear in Super Smash Bros. Melee and Super Smash Bros. Brawl within the Green Greens stage. These blocks fall in random increments as the current Star Blocks in the five by three columns on both sides of the stage are destroyed.  Also showering down are Bomb Blocks, which look similar to regular Star Blocks but have a paler hue and a bomb instead of a star.  These blocks explode if hit with an attack or are given the time to sit until they discharge.

A Star Block in Kirby Star Allies.

A Star Block[1] is a yellow-orange square block with a bordered white star insignia inset which is commonly found in most Kirby games as part of the environment, whether it be used as a barricade, to build platforms, or just tucked away in the corner of an area. Star Blocks are typically about Kirby's size (though some are larger) and can be easily inhaled by the pink puffball and used to spit out Star Bullets. They can also be destroyed in a single hit by any attack, including Air Bullets, Slide attacks, Water Gun shots, or Headbutts. In some games, such as Kirby & The Amazing Mirror, they can also be destroyed (albeit sometimes inadvertently) using a Dive Attack. In many cases, Star Blocks will reveal other items or even hidden Doors when broken.
