State of this page

I'm honestly extremely confused by the games section of this page in multiple ways. My main problem is that I'm really not sure what it's meant to be listing - although it claims to to be minor characters, it doesn't seem to settle on any kind of definition as it includes Keeby (a playable character), big lists of characters who appear in cutscenes even when they have greater roles in the game (like Whispy Woods and a bunch of random enemies in the Super Star section), the Squeaks and a couple bosses from Forgotten Land even though the opening says enemies don't count (not to mention almost every enemy from the puzzle games), characters who have a good amount of dialogue (like the Halberd's crew, Channel PPP, and all of Waddle Dee Town's inhabitants), etc., etc. But even besides that main flaw, I'm not sure the page is even needed as I can't really imagine anyone being helped by a list of characters arbitrarily determined to be minor, especially when almost all of them are covered already on their own pages. If we do keep the page then it definitely needs a big overhaul - maybe we could shorten it to just characters without pages (so basically just the Dream Land 3 characters), or we could just entirely erase the game section and keep the anime and novel ones since those two don't seem to have the problems I just described (at least not to the same extent). I feel like the page is trying to include minor characters for within that game (excluding other games/media when considering that) since it includes Dedede and Meta Knight in a couple places, which, while I can see the idea behind, seems to make it more confusing. Also, while they don't impact the story at all (the article's definition of minor), I disagree with the article including playable characters as minor. Speaking of the article's definition ("A minor character is a character who, while having a more significant role than simply being an enemy or cameo appearance, is still not a major part of the main story"), I feel like that would discount almost every character with dialogue since there's not a lot of cases where a character has dialogue that's not part of the story, so I do agree that this page needs to be pared down (or have the definition of minor character changed). ---PinkYoshiFan 11:28, 1 September 2023 (UTC)
My take on the matter, somewhat influenced by the structure I've seen used in my uh previous online incarnation: if the information can be covered on the character's page and/or game page, it doesn't need to be here, it's just duplicate information. It would make sense to only add characters that don't otherwise have or deserve a page; although that's a narrow range, does it really matter since the info otherwise exists on other pages? The concept of a minor character in a video game itself is questionable. Novel, anime and manga minor characters, on the other hand, would be more noteworthy. I agree with the sentiment here that this page should only discuss characters who don't have enough to say about them to warrant their own article, and in that case, the video game section likely needs to be removed almost entirely, replaced with a general statement on how some enemies or other entities can have minor roles on the plots of the games. --Samwell (talk) 18:35, 26 December 2023 (UTC)
