"Select Screen"[1] is a theme from Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards, heard in its file select.

Composition

The Select File Screen.

"Select Screen" is a relatively short track in C major and in 4/4. It has a clear and high-pitched, crystal-like sound. Its melody is steady, with each note taking a single beat. The first two phrases start with a rising intonation followed by a gradual descent, while the third and fourth have a smoother movement. The second phrase in particular has an F-sharp, characteristic of melodic minor. The accompaniment provides harmonic support in semiquavers.

Game appearances

Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards

This theme plays during the file select of Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards, while the title screen proper is mute.

Kirby: Canvas Curse

In Kirby: Canvas Curse, an arrangement of "Select Screen" plays under circumstances identical to those in its game of origin. This arrangement's instrumentation takes from its crystal-like character.

Other appearances

On The Sound of Kirby Café 2, a remixed medley of "Studying the Factory" and "Select Screen" is included and titled 眠れるキカイのプラネット (Planet of Sleeping Machines). It was arranged Hirokazu Ando.
