Hii[edit]

Hello there Paistrie! I noticed you've been doing good work. Good job on that. I was wondering if you would be interested in joining our Discord server? Lots of the community and all of WiKirby's staff are a part of it. It'll be easier for you to communicate with us and ask questions about the wiki, and it's just a nice place to chat if that's your kind of thing. You can learn about the server here. If you decide on joining, you can follow this link.

Either way, keep up the good work! Any help is appreciated! -- Jellytost (talk) 02:53, 2 December 2022 (UTC)

Thank you for the invite! I might consider joining the server. -- Paistrie (talk) 04:30, 4 December 2022 (UTC)
Whatever's most comfortable for you. ^^ -- Jellytost (talk) 04:43, 4 December 2022 (UTC)

About your audio file[edit]

Hello! Just want to let you know that your audio file is indeed only 30 seconds long. The only issue is that there's a lot of quiet empty space at the end that hasn't been cut out. The actual fade of the audio and all that is perfectly fine. If you want, I could show you how to do that depending on the program you used to edit the audio. -- Jellytost (talk) 17:43, 6 December 2022 (UTC)

There's several things I would be happy to help you with, also some things about the audio I didn't realize beforehand, but I won't dump all of these onto you at once. I can go at a pace that works for you. Just know that you don't have to feel bad at all for these things. You have good spirit so far and we're glad to have you around. I used to (and still do) make lots of little slip-ups. -- Jellytost (talk) 19:12, 6 December 2022 (UTC)
Hi! I'm trying to figure out how to fix that problem, but I do need help with that. I'm using Audacity, by the way.
Also, I really do appreciate the help. I just felt bad because I didn't want to waste anyone's time—especially after making the same mistake twice. I'm glad to be here as well. --Paistrie (talk) 20:56, 6 December 2022 (UTC)
Don't worry! It's never a waste of time at all. We're here to help out. The audio does seem to be 30 seconds long and in good quality, so good job on that! Just took cache a minute to update. Before we get into the other things, do you still have this audio file saved in your files, and do you remember where you got it? -- Jellytost (talk) 21:20, 6 December 2022 (UTC)
I should still have it. I got the full thing at a video game music website called KHInsider.--Paistrie (talk) 18:19, 7 December 2022 (UTC)
Okay, that works out nicely! Can you grab the url from where you got it there, please? -- Jellytost (talk)
Here it is! (It has a different name for some reason...) Time to Learn --Paistrie (talk) 21:24, 7 December 2022 (UTC)
Okay, so first what you're gonna want to do first is put this link into the "source" section on the file page instead of self:
KHInsider
All you have to do is copy-paste the code I have here in editing mode into the source section. Can you do that? -- Jellytost (talk) 21:39, 7 December 2022 (UTC)
Yes, I've done that just now.--Paistrie (talk) 02:31, 8 December 2022 (UTC)
Good job! Now, just to speed things up a bit, I'll list the last things that should be done. Let me know if you have any trouble:
First, you'll need to add a parameter called "type=" along with the others, and put "audio" beside it.
After that, according to our policy, you'll need to shorten the fade out in your audio to roughly two seconds, much closer to the end than in the current audio you have. Once you do both of these things, you'll be all set! -- Jellytost (talk) 02:45, 8 December 2022 (UTC)

I updated the file. Thank you for your help!--Paistrie (talk) 15:26, 8 December 2022 (UTC)

I'm glad to help. Thank you for listening so well. You did good. I went ahead and put us back down here in the converstation, since we were getting close to the edge of the page hehe. Sorry that this file has been so darn troublesome. They usually aren't like this, and it can be hard to sort through this kind of thing through talk pages. :P It's always much easier to communicate on the discord server, in case there are any other issues, or you have questions with the file or anything else you'd get into on the wiki. Though, I understand if you're unable or uncomfortable with that. -- Jellytost (talk) 15:48, 8 December 2022 (UTC)
For some reason, the file is super buggy, even though you've checked off all the boxes for this process. I'm not sure why it's like this, but I don't want you to keep having to do this over and over again. :P Especially since this seems like something that's stuck in this specific file. So in just a sec, I'll fix it right up for ya. -- Jellytost (talk) 16:00, 8 December 2022 (UTC)

Drafting[edit]

Hi Paistrie, I have noticed that the first versions of your recent pages ("The Beginner's Room" and "Shiver Star") were in really rough state, especially the latter one. If you have problems writing a page in one go (and I don't blame you, I can't do it either, and music pages are hard to write in the first place anyway), I recommend creating a draft first in Notepad or in your personal sandbox. This way, you'll be able to save and come back to it later. Once it's finished, you can copy the coding and create the page (if you choose the Notepad, make sure to preview it first to see it displays as intended). Have a nice day! Superbound (talk) 19:14, 10 December 2022 (UTC)

To add to that, I had to delete the later page since it was extremely short on content. You are free to recreate it with more content, following the tips Superbound gave you. I would also advise you to read our stub policy and article creation policy, because we generally recommend pages not to be created as stubs; we don't want to have pages created just for the sake of having them, we want to make sure they are created and right away have unique content. Hope that helps! - Gigi (talkedits) 20:57, 10 December 2022 (UTC)
Again, with "Must Dash", same applies. Additionally if you are unable to write anything about the subject (as your construction template message would imply), then it's best to leave it to someone else. Wikis are a group project, and not a single person possibly can be knowledgeable about everything. Also, in most of your page creations, you often forgot about the categories. You just need to add [[Category:Music in <game>]] at the end of the article (with <game> being replaced with the games' names, of course). Superbound (talk) 18:07, 8 March 2023 (UTC)
Thank you for the advice (and apologies about the stub)! Forgetting to group categories is a very bad habit I have when making pages, so apologies for that as well.--Paistrie (talk) 18:48, 8 March 2023 (UTC)

Another note on audio files[edit]

Greetings, Paistrie. I'm sending you this message because your most recent upload, File:KD3 Grass Land 1.mp3 had a couple issues, as follows:

  1. The song was clipped to 30 seconds or less as required, but the fade-out was not applied correctly. What happened was that the song was gradually fading out over the entire run-time, then abruptly ended at the 28 second mark, rather than fading quickly and completely near the end as it should.
  2. The source link you supplied did not link back to the file, instead leading to a "not found" page. I suspect you may not have pasted the whole URL.

I have uploaded a corrected version of the song, which should display for you momentarily (if it does not already). Please take note of the corrections done therein, and let me know if you have any other questions. I will help if I can. I would also highly recommend joining our Discord server, so you can chat with us in real time and get more specific feedback. Cheers. --Samwell (talk) 23:29, 12 December 2022 (UTC)

Just leaving another note here. I see that your subsequent audio uploads of File:KPR Yearning for Yellow.mp3 and File:KSA Streets with Kindness.mp3 are clipped and fade correctly. Well done. Just like that going forward. One last thing I should note for future reference is that if you need to get a clip of a song somewhere in the middle, rather than at the start, be sure to fade the beginning as well. Cheers, and best of luck on your wiki endeavors. --Samwell (talk) 17:14, 14 December 2022 (UTC)

Need Your Help[edit]

I saw you are really good with audio files and i'm currently working on a page on my sandbox that needs a lot of audio clips. I don't know how to add them so i need your help. The page is about the various gameover themes in the series. I already have some of the audio clips i need which are the KSS and KA game over themes Kssgameovertheme.ogg and Kdl3gameover.oga. It says Kdl 3 but the audio is from KA i just named it wrong. I do have the real KDL3 Gameover theme ready for upload though. === MeltanFlood (talk) 19:59, 5 April 2023 (UTC)

Sure! I can help with this! Just to be specific, do you want me to tell you how to upload said clips or upload all the game over themes for you? --Paistrie (talk) 23:34, 5 April 2023 (UTC)
Hello MeltanFlood, was my answer to you in my talk page not useful? - Gigi (talkedits) 23:41, 5 April 2023 (UTC)

Upload all the game over themes. Also yes gigi it was useful i just needed some extra help. === MeltanFlood (talk) 23:47, 5 April 2023 (UTC)
