Unlike most Waddle Doos, Captain Waddle Doo has a light orange body and purple feet. Because no other Waddle Doos are seen in the anime, it is unknown if they all are like that in the anime or that color scheme is exclusive to Captain Waddle Doo.

His main job is to speak on behalf of the Waddle Dees, as well as direct them to fulfill King Dedede's orders and needs. Ultimately, Captain Waddle Doo is more concerned for the safety and well-being of the Waddle Dees than any loyalty to King Dedede, and will stand with them whenever the interests of the Waddle Dees and King Dedede are at odds. Captain Waddle Doo may even go so far as to punish King Dedede and Escargoon if they overstep their usual bounds when attacking Kirby. A good example of this is when King Dedede crashes Kirby's anniversary party by bringing in the monster [[Dangerous Bomb]], which Captain Waddle Doo seems to see as a step too far.

This article is about Waddle Doo from Kirby: Right Back at Ya!. For Waddle Doo from the video game series, see Waddle Doo.

Captain Waddle Doo is a supporting character from the anime Kirby: Right Back at Ya! Despite having no mouth, Captain Waddle Doo has the ability to speak and serves as the captain of the guard for Castle Dedede. He commands the Waddle Dees in the castle and is able to call upon them at any time. Despite this, Captain Waddle Doo is not directly related to the Waddle Dees, and does not know how many are in the castle. He has a short sword strapped to his waist at all times, though he seldom uses it.

In the Japanese version of the anime, his voice is high-pitched, while in the English version, his voice is quite deep, with a stereotypical Brooklyn accent.

Appearance[edit]

Captain Waddle Doo looks very similar to the in-game members of his species, with an orange body, one large eye, and two strands of hair above his eye.

Unlike most Waddle Doos, Captain Waddle Doo has a light orange body and purple feet. Because no other Waddle Doos are seen in the anime, it is unknown if they all are like that in the anime or that color scheme is exclusive to Captain Waddle Doo.

Personality[edit]

Captain Waddle Doo is very curt and studious, particularly when it comes to commanding the Waddle Dees and taking orders from King Dedede and Escargoon. Regardless of the nature of the orders he receives, he does not carry the same level of hatred toward Kirby and the people of Cappy Town as his masters do, and is willing to help them with whatever they need so long as it does not conflict with his orders. In Tourist Trap, he is even seen helping Kirby defeat a monster by instructing the tourists to throw their ice at him so he can gain the Ice Copy Ability. The only conditions under which Captain Waddle Doo may refuse an order from the king is if said order would lead directly to the Waddle Dees' harm.

Role in Kirby: Right Back at Ya![edit]

Captain Waddle Doo takes his role as captain of the Waddle Dee soldiers seriously, even if it's something silly like preparing multiple dinners for King Dedede while the castle is under attack.

Captain Waddle Doo's role in Kirby: Right Back at Ya! is very much a supporting one, as he has very little of the spotlight and relatively little character development. His main job is to speak on behalf of the Waddle Dees, as well as direct them to fulfill King Dedede's orders and needs. Often times, he is antagonistic towards Kirby and his friends, but only as a result of King Dedede's orders. Captain Waddle Doo personally has nothing against Kirby or his friends, and often helps them when he isn't arrayed against them. A good example of this is when King Dedede crashes Kirby's anniversary party by bringing in the monster Dangerous Bomb, which Captain Waddle Doo seems to see as a step too far.

Filmography[edit]

KMA Captain Waddle Doo.png Captain Waddle Doo cameos in the Kirby Mass Attack Sub-Game Kirby Quest, and can appear alongside King Dedede, Escargoon and a retinue of Waddle Dees when Dedede makes an attack in Chapter 1 - Stage 10 and Chapter 4 - Stage 5.
