Squeaky Hammer Machine[1] is a large robotic hammer designed to crush things on the floor of the factory in Factory Tour, from Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards. It would later appear as a stage hazard on the Factory Tour Battle Stage in all three of the Kirby Fighters games.

Characteristics[edit]

Squeaky Hammer Machine resembles a metallic round robot with two blue lights resembling eyes and a mouth full of sharp teeth. Sprouting from the top of its head is a giant toy hammer, which it regularly swings forward to pound the ground ahead of itself. In its original appearance in Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards, the machine itself had a dull bronze appearance and a red hammer. In its appearances in the Kirby Fighters games, it was updated to have a gold lustrous coating on both the body and hammer, and it also opens its mouth and emits steam when it strikes. Naturally, Kirby will take damage if he is hit by the hammer, and is specifically flattened in the Kirby Fighters games. The Squeaky Hammer Machine itself cannot be attacked or otherwise defeated, and instead must simply be avoided.

Game appearances[edit]

Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards[edit]

Squeaky Hammer Machines first appeared in Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards, where they can be seen pounding the floor in various areas of the Factory Tour stage in Shiver Star. If Kirby is hit by the hammer in this game, he will be defeated instantly. Unlike most other enemies, they do not have an Enemy Info Card.

Kirby Fighters series[edit]

In all three Kirby Fighters games, three Squeaky Hammer Machines appear in the background of the Factory Tour Battle Stage and pound the stage in various patterns at regular intervals. If a fighter is hit by one of these hammers, he will take 48 points of damage and be flattened momentarily. The hammers will not activate in Kirby Fighters 2 if stage hazards are turned off.
