Is this really worth it?

I saw this page made a little while ago and I wasn't sure how I felt about it. In the anime, several exclusive locations are revisited, and even when they aren't, there are many more details to take out of them. There's lots of exclusive locations in the novels, but these locations usually don't reappear (from what I know). Also, the only details we can really get out of them is through descriptions in the writing and hoping they're illustrated in some form. For me personally, this isn't nearly enough for them to have their own standalone articles. Instead, I might propose to have a single article describing all the exclusive novel locations together. This might turn out to be a lengthy page though, depending on how many exclusive locations there will be in the future. The ones we have right now seem like they would be manageable on a single page (there aren't too many from what I can tell).

What are your thoughts? -- Jellytost (talk) 18:25, 30 November 2022 (UTC)

I think having a page to talk about all novel exclusive locations makes sense. There aren't really many that I can think of (there is this, Minore, Chiffon Star, and maybe some minor locations from the Galacta Knight novel that I can think from the top of my head), so I don't think the page would grow that large either. Most novel locations are reused from the games, so for those we can just write about them in their existing pages, and for unique ones we talk about them in a single page. - Gigi (talkedits) 18:45, 30 November 2022 (UTC)
Having one page with a list of novel-exclusive locations seems like it could work. ---PinkYoshiFan 19:14, 30 November 2022 (UTC)
I like the location masterpage idea and support it. I admit it might be a little bit of my fault, as I was the one who added them to the navbox, but my mind has changed since. Superbound (talk) 14:52, 2 December 2022 (UTC)
It seems like we're in agreement on it being one page for all novel-exclusive locations, I can try to do that soon if nobody opposes. ---PinkYoshiFan 16:34, 2 December 2022 (UTC)
Yep go ahead! I was going to do it sometime soon, but turns out I've gotten sick ahha. That would be helpful! -- Jellytost (talk) 16:36, 2 December 2022 (UTC)

Revert merge?

So, originally I voted in favor of the merge of this page to be a list of novel-exclusive locations. However, looking back, and with more novels releasing, I want to propose for us to actually give separate pages to novel-exclusive locations.

Naturally, I have reasonings for that, being the following:

  • To start, we give separate pages to every unique novel character, even though all only appear one volume each. If this was a reasoning given to merge all locations into one page (the reasoning that the exclusive locations only appear once in a single novel), then it doesn't stand when we don't do that with the novel-exclusive characters;
  • While it's true that when it comes to the anime we have more recurring locations, we still have pages for locations that appear once or twice, such as Haunted mansion, and some locations, despite recurring, are only a proper setting of an episode once, and so we have very little to talk about them, such as Eastern Forest. That latter page in particular is shorter than all sections of this page, or around the same size, I'm fairly sure;
  • Yomi in particular is alluded to in the games, even though it's not a proper location. If anything, that one deserves to be its own page for that reason alone (as it's not really novel-exclusive) (but I will say, I still support all novel locations to get pages);
  • The novels recently keep introducing new locations, contrary to early years of the novels were they mostly reused game locations. This page keeps growing larger and likely won't stop;
  • Right now, links to locations link to this page, and are blue links, although often they link to an empty section, which for me feels very misleading for readers. They will click a blue link expecting a proper page, only to be greeted by just an incomplete template. If we make these locations proper pages, uncreated ones will be red links, better indicating that the wiki currently has no proper info about that location in particular.

For the record, I am just proposing separate pages for locations where a story happens proper, not places only mentioned or alluded to, since for those cases we really won't have enough information about them.

Anyway, what do you all think? - Gigi (talkedits) 14:18, 19 March 2024 (UTC)

Support, and turn this into "List of minor locations in the Kirby novel series" or something. A lot of locations are really interesting and have enough to be said to warrant a split. ShadowKirby (t/c) a.k.a. your new overlord ShadowMagolor 15:15, 19 March 2024 (UTC)
