I would like to point out that the poison apples in Amazing Mirror could be a refrence to the Poisonous Apple from "Sleeping Beauty". This would be good for trivia, no? GBAi (talk) 21:31, 13 February 2022 (UTC)--GBAi

First, I should point out that the poison apple comes from Snow White, not Sleeping Beauty. Also, I don't think there's enough evidence to suggest that the poison apple in this game is a reference to it. --Samwell (talk) 22:03, 13 February 2022 (UTC)

Official name, though a problem

Greetings. As of Whispy Woods EX's Special Page text in the demo for Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe, "poison apple" is now an official term. However, since this page covers poisoned fruit in a broader context, I'm not really sure how to apply it to make this page's name no longer "conjectural". Any ideas? --Samwell (talk) 16:55, 17 March 2023 (UTC)

Maybe have a separate page on poison apples, perhaps? --DarkMatterMan4500 (talk) (contribs) 16:57, 17 March 2023 (UTC)
I don't feel like that would be appropriate. It would end up being two pages talking about the same thing, with one having marginally more information on it than the other. --Samwell (talk) 16:59, 17 March 2023 (UTC)
I would say keep "poison fruit" as the name of this page and note that "poison apple" is the official name of Whispy's poison apples specifically. StarPunch (talk) 17:06, 17 March 2023 (UTC)
I wonder if this could be a bigger discussion to have for pages which have like a "name derived from another official name". In this case, we could get "poison apple" and derive a more general "poison fruit" to talk about the fruits in general and not just apples. Another application I thought was for certain music titles, like Neo Star: Stage Select, which is currently listed as conjectural but it's more specifically derived from Ripple Star: Stage Select. But like I mentioned, this would be a bigger discussion to have, so food for thought. Otherwise, I really don't see what else to do; this feels like a Gourmet Race: Intro situation, where the article subject itself has no official name, but more specific parts of the article do, so I would keep this page title as conjectural but note somewhere that "poison apple" is an official name for the apples. - Gigi (talkedits) 17:08, 17 March 2023 (UTC)
The thing that StarPunch mentioned with the title staying the same with a note that Whispy Wood's poison apples are officially named seems like it could work. I could also see it working where we move this to Poison apple, but have a section on other poisonous fruits (although handling Wiz's apples in that case would be tricky since they're not from Whispy and give sleep instead of damage). That being said, I think the thing that Gigi mentioned about having titles derived from other official titles (which we kinda already do with {{DerivedTitle}} for foreign names, although that is still slightly different) would work best in the long run. ---PinkYoshiFan 16:25, 20 March 2023 (UTC)

I basically agree with the StarPunch solution here. The only issue that remains would be whether we want a separate template for conjectural names derived from official names but I believe this is far beyond the scope of this page. (For instance, it would apply to a number of RtDLDTrueArena!Magolor Soul's attacks at time of writing, like Screen Flip (taken from the official name for a Sphere Doomer EX attack that is functionally the same), or Sand Storm (deriving from a Sand move name). Personally I also think it becomes difficult to draw a bar for how much distance between the official and conjectural names is acceptable for applying that hypothetical template versus plain {{Title}}, but again this is well outside the scope of just this page so I'll cut myself off there.) —willidleaway [talk | edits] 11:58, 15 April 2023 (UTC)
In the interest of resolving this page, I would go for renaming this page to Poison apple, since that's what it is most of the time, while acknowledging other poisoned fruits (Gigi's solution). A wider discussion on this topic can be had another time, when people are ready to have it, I think. --Samwell (talk) 18:19, 26 December 2023 (UTC)
