Final boss

This article or section is under construction. Therefore, please excuse its informal appearance while it's being worked on. We hope to have it completed as soon as possible.
Reason: I had an intrusive thought to make this and now we're here. Please help.

A final boss (sometimes referred to as a last boss) is the term often used to describe the last boss in a video game. The Kirby series is no stranger to this idea, with a majority of games having one or more final bosses. Final bosses aren't distinguished just by whether the credits roll after their defeat, but are often given their own unique level, such as The Fountain of Dreams or Mind in the Program, and may occasionally be a secret villain or twist villain such as Dark Matter or Marx. Some final bosses use moves that work in a similar way to moves used by previous level bosses, building on what Kirby has learned over the course of his adventure. Others still are actually false final bosses, only allowing access to the "true" final boss once certain milestones have been reached.

List of final bosses

The following table lists every final boss in the Kirby series, in chronological order:

Final bosses in the Kirby series
Boss Game(s) Mode(s) Description
KDL Super Dedede Jump.png
King Dedede
Kirby's Dream Land Normal Game
Extra Game
King Dedede is the first final boss in the series. He can use his hammer, inhale, and Super Dedede Jump to battle Kirby in his castle atop Mt. Dedede. Kirby is able to attack back by inhaling the Dropped Stars left by some of his attacks, and spitting them back at him. In Extra Game, King Dedede uses his attacks more aggressively.
KNiDL Nightmare battle.png
Nightmare
Kirby's Adventure
Kirby: Nightmare in Dream Land
Normal Game
Extra Game
Boss Endurance
After Kirby defeats King Dedede once again, Level 8 starts, and Nightmare is revealed to be the true villain of the game. King Dedede uses his inhale to launch Kirby and the Star Rod towards Nightmare's Power Orb, whom Kirby must defeat using the Star Rod before reaching the ground and losing a life. Afterwards, Nightmare turns into his Nightmare Wizard form, using more attacks to try to take down Kirby. When defeated, Nightmare explodes, leaving a large crater in the moon, but Kirby manages to escape using his Warp Star. Nightmare is also the last boss in the Boss Endurance mode.

King Dedede
Kirby's Pinball Land Main Mode(?) King Dedede returns as a final boss, more stuff here.
KDC Robo Dedede.png

Kirby's Dream Course Single-player

Kirby's Dream Course only features one boss, known as Robo Dedede. It is a robotic version of King Dedede, piloted by the king himself. This boss is fought in its very own Course, which is the last Course of the game's single-player mode. Robo Dedede has the ability to summon smaller robots called Chibi Dededes to attack Kirby.
KDL2 Dedede Fight 2.png
King Dedede
Kirby's Dream Land 2 Story Mode In the last stage of Dark Castle, a possessed King Dedede appears as the final boss of the game if Kirby has not collected all Rainbow Drops, resulting in a bad ending. Otherwise, King Dedede is the second to last boss.
KDL2 Dark Matter Fight 1.png
Dark Matter
Story Mode
BOSS
If Kirby managed to collect every Rainbow Drop, he will duel the real villain, Dark Matter Blade, using his newly acquired Rainbow Sword to reflect his attacks. After defeating the swordsman, Dark Matter will reveal his true form, transforming into a large eyeball known as Real Dark Matter. During this phase, Kirby will slowly fall down to the ground, and if he does not defeat Real Dark Matter fast enough, he will lose a life because of it. Dark Matter is also the final opponent Kirby will face in this game's Boss Endurance mode.
KBBa Brobo.png
Brobo
Kirby's Block Ball Main Mode(?) If Kirby was unable to get the Border Line score in every previous stage, Stage 10 will be the last stage on his journey, resulting in a bad ending. This stage features the unique boss Brobo.

Kirby Super Star Ultra
Spring Breeze Due to Spring Breeze following essentially the same plot as Kirby's Dream Land, King Dedede naturally reappears as the final boss of this mode, using the same attacks to try to defeat Kirby. This time, however, Kirby has the ability to use Copy Abilities and summon Helpers to take down the king more easily.
KSSU Dyna Blade Fight.png
Dyna Blade
Dyna Blade Dyna Blade is the only boss Kirby will have to face in the last stage of the titular mode, Dyna Blade's Nest. This giant bird is able to fly across the stage, breathe out fire, and grab Kirby using her claws and beak. After her defeat, it is revealed that the reason for her havoc was that she was simply trying to feed her chicks.
KSSU Wham Bam Rock Fight.png
Wham Bam Rock
The Great Cave Offensive Wham Bam Rock is an enormous boss that Kirby will have to battle at the end of The Great Cave Offensive. This creature always hides in the background, and his attacks consist of using his large rocky hands to try to smash, punch, and grab Kirby, drop rocks from the ceiling, and shoot projectiles out of his fingers.
KSSU RoMK Meta Knight Fight.png
Meta Knight
Revenge of Meta Knight Though originally introduced as a regular boss in Kirby's Adventure, Meta Knight reappears as the main antagonist and final boss of Revenge of Meta Knight. Meta Knight's battle takes place in Chapter 7 of the mode. Like in Kirby's Adventure, he offers Kirby a sword, but this time, Kirby is able to deny the offer. Meta Knight now has the additional ability to summon tornadoes. After the swordsman's defeat, Kirby rushes to leave the crashing Halberd using Wheelie Rider, but Meta Knight flies after Kirby in an attempt to stop him from fleeing.
Marx KSSU battle.png
Marx
Milky Way Wishes
The Arena
After Marx tricks Kirby into summoning Galactic Nova in Milky Way Wishes, the jester reveals his true form, and Kirby has to chase after him to stop him from taking control of Popstar. Marx has the abilities to teleport, shoot deadly boomerangs, summon Black Holes, and much more. After his defeat, Marx gets launched into Galactic Nova, which promptly explodes. Marx is also the last opponent faced in The Arena.
KDL3 Iceberg Stage 7 screenshot 03.png
King Dedede
Kirby's Dream Land 3 Story Mode In the same fashion as Kirby's Dream Land 2, King Dedede, possessed by Dark Matter, is once again the final boss in the bad ending, which happens if Kirby did not collect every Heart Star. However, this battle has a second phase where Dedede's stomach turns into a big mouth that tries to eat Kirby and shoot orbs at him. The battle takes place in Stage 7 of Iceberg, atop Castle Dedede.

In this level, Kirby will first have to rematch Real Dark Matter using the Love-Love Stick, while optionally getting help from Gooey using Mock Matter. After Dark Matter's defeat, the final boss reveals itself: Zero. This giant eyeball is able to summon miniature replicas of Dark Matter and even shoot blood from its body. After its first health bar is depleted, Zero's center rips out from the rest of its body and tries to chase after Kirby in a last-ditch effort. This is also the last fight in Boss Butch.
K64 Ripple Star Stage 4 screenshot 01.png
Miracle Matter
Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards Story Mode Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards once again features a bad ending. In this game, the final boss of this ending is Miracle Matter, who appears in Stage 4 of Ripple Star. This boss has seven different forms based on all of Kirby's Copy Abilities in the game, including Bomb, Burn, Cutter, Ice, Needle, Spark, and Stone, with each one having its own attack. Miracle Matter can only be damaged by the Copy Ability or Star Bullet corresponding to its current form.

Together, they use the Ribbon's Crystal ability to take down this angelic eyeball by attacking its eye and halo to reveal a spiny green tail, which can be attacked to deal damage. The duo can also destroy 0²'s wings to make it much slower, but 0² can fight back by shooting blood out of its eye and green gas out of its tail. Kirby Tilt 'n' Tumble Story Mode
Extra Game
King Dedede reprises his final boss role in Kirby Tilt 'n' Tumble, being faced in Lvl 8-4 of the game. Right before the battle starts, the king grabs a star piece to become invincible, but this can be knocked out of him by using the nearby cannon to shoot Kirby at him while he's recovering from a charge attack. Other than that attack, Dedede can also swing and throw his hammer at Kirby and use his inhale attack. In Extra Game, the wall behind King Dedede is lined with spikes, making the cannon a lot more dangerous to use.

This form is fought four different times, with each battle gaining new attacks and a different arena. After these battles, Kirby is taken to a new arena, with Dark Mind having transformed into a giant laser-shooting eyeball. Once this battle is also cleared, Dark Mind tries to flee, but Kirby uses his star-shooting Warp Star to take him down, which eventually makes the staff credits roll, allowing Kirby to keep shooting Dark Mind to gain as many points as he can. Dark Mind is also the final boss of Boss Endurance, but only one battle per form takes place.
