These baddies use their tongues to scoop up anything in front of them and spit them out in another place. They must think Kirby tastes like cotton candy, because they keep swallowing him over and over!
— Figurine description of Warpspace from [[Kirby and the Rainbow Curse|Template:KatRC KatRP]]

Warpspace is a large squarish creature that serves as an invincible stage hazard and device in [[Kirby and the Rainbow Curse|Template:KatRC KatRP]], particularly in the level Wonder Space. It sits in place and waits for a meal in the form of Kirby to come rolling in front of it. When this happens, it laps Kirby up with its tongue, then ejects him through its tail in a different location, shooting him straight as if being launched from a Cannon. This process cannot harm Kirby, and is sometimes necessary to make progress through the stage, but more often than not, getting eaten by Warpspace is a hindrance, as it often leads to Kirby being sent back to a previous area.

Details

There are three different varieties of Warpspace, distinguished by their colTemplate:Or and the number of eyes they have. Green ones have one eye, red ones have two, and blue ones have three. Using these eyes, Warpspaces track the movement of Kirby from across the screen. All three Warpspace types function largely the same, however, save for sending Kirby to the tail that matches their colTemplate:Or. Multiple Warpspaces can link to a single tail of matching colTemplate:Or.

Warpspaces come in various sizes, but are never particularly small. Some of them can be seen snoozing, so Kirby can sneak past these ones if he moves quietly and slowly enough. Another way to bypass Warpspaces is to use a Star Dash. While traveling during a Star Dash, Warpspaces adopt a fearful expression, and will refuse to eat Kirby.

In multiplayer, if any one character touches a Warpspace, all characters will be teleported to that Warpspace to be eaten. During Challenge Mode stages, being eaten by a Warpspace will temporarily halt the timer, but this is seldom actually useful.

Trivia

  • Warpspace tails have lobes whose number matches the number of eyes on the same-colTemplate:Or Warpspace.
