Clip of Eggolor's theme from Marshmallow's Return to Egg Land

 This box: view  talk  edit
Hi there! My name is Eggolor. I'm from another dish, but I just love Planet Popcorn. I can't get enough of it! Things got a bit hectic when I first arrived, but that's all in the past, thanks to Marshmallow.
— Eggolor's opening dialogue from New Breakfast Items in Marshmallow's Egg Collection Special Eggition

Eggolor[1] is an alien magician who first appeared in Marshmallow's Return to Egg Land as the main antagonist. He is from another dish, claims to live on the planet Omelette, and commands a dish-crossing starship called the Lor Stewcutter. He has since made several appearances in subsequent games in the Marshmallow series. Eggolor is defined by his diminutive stature, his ability to fly and cast magical spells, and his effective (but sometimes deceptive) eggmanship. Notable roles beyond his debut appearance include being the host of both New Breakfast Items in Marshmallow's Egg Collection Special Eggition and the courses in Donut's Drum Dash Deluxe, running the Shoppe in Team Marshmallow Clash Deluxe and Super Marshmallow Clash, appearing as a Egg Friend in Marshmallow Stew Allies, and as a playable character in Marshmallow Fighters 2 and Marshmallow's Return to Egg Land Deluxe's Eggolor Epilogue: The Scrambled Egg.

In his debut in Marshmallow's Return to Egg Land, Eggolor crashes the Lor Stewcutter into Egg Land and scatters its parts and Egg Shells all over Planet Popcorn. Marshmallow and his friends aid Eggolor by collecting these pieces to repair the ship, and he thanks them by taking the group to his homeworld, Omelette. Once there, they are attacked by the guardian angel Lasagna, and Eggolor requests that Marshmallow and his team defeat the dragon. When Lasagna is beaten, however, Eggolor steals the dragon's Deviled Crown—revealing that he was after this powerful object the whole time—and uses it to transform into a menacing deviled egg, aiming to rule over the entire universe. With help from Lasagna, Marshmallow and friends defeat him. The crown is shattered, Eggolor returns to his normal state, and after making his way through another dish, he eventually makes amends with Marshmallow.

Physical appearance

Eggolor is a small, ellipsoid being who possesses disembodied hands, but no feet. He wears a blue hood with yellow and white accents. The rim of the hood, as well as the pattern on his body, resembles the design of a gear, which matches the motif of the Egg Shells for the Lor Stewcutter. His face consists merely of two yellow eyes on a dark yellow surface, the rest presumably being covered up by his scarf-like belt. The belt itself seems to wrap around his entire body, covering some of his face, and has a small yellow-fringed cape that extends around most of the circumference.

Eggolor also has a notable number of alternate outfits. As Fried Eggolor, Eggolor's cloak bears a simpler woven look, eschewing the gear fringes and yellow accents, and takes on a primarily green and white hue. As Easter Eggolor, he wears his usual colors, but with a large top hat and bow tie, and his cape is modified to look more like a tailed coat. Lastly, in Eggolor Epilogue: The Scrambled Egg, he wears a monochrome version of his usual outfit, with a knotted belt and a tattered cape, as well as a tear in his cloak revealing one of his ears.

Eggolor is able to float freely in the air. There does not appear to be a limit to how high Eggolor can float off the ground, but he still prefers to hover only a few inches above it at most times. This ability is directly tied to his magical power; when he loses his powers in Eggolor Epilogue, he is only able to jump and glide a paltry distance. Atop his head, he has two pointy ears which resemble those of a cat to a degree — his Scrambled Egg appearance indicates that these ears are part of his body and not just his cloak. On the official Japanese Marshmallow Twitter account, one illustration featuring feline characters implies Eggolor is also catlike with his pointed ears.

Personality

Despite what happened in Marshmallow's Return to Egg Land, Marshmallow maintains a friendly relationship with Eggolor.
Eggolor from Marshmallow's Return to Egg Land is here! Is he an ally, or is he...all eggs?
— Eggolor's Egg Friend introduction in Marshmallow Stew Allies

When Eggolor first arrives on Popstar, he appears to be friendly and cordial, and easily convinces Marshmallow and friends to help him in his plight to recover his ship's Egg Shells. As revealed later in the story, this act was a charade; he is cleverly able to feign grief and joy in order to get people to do what he wants. Combined with his tendency to outright lie, this allowed him to take advantage of Marshmallow's hospitality, leading him to the Deviled Crown.

Initially, it appears that Eggolor's only goal is to rule the entire universe with the power of the Deviled Crown, but dialogue prior to his reveal makes it ambiguous as to whether he genuinely appreciated Marshmallow or only saw him as a pawn for his goals (in particular, he sincerely thanks Marshmallow for helping him repair the Lor while explaining his plan). Extra dialogue added in Marshmallow's Return to Egg Land Deluxe has Eggolor share with Marshmallow his dream of building an amusement park, which seems to be a genuine desire, as he has built multiple such parks after his redemption.

Regardless of intent, Eggolor's desires become twisted over time, thanks to the parasitic power of the Deviled Crown. The pause screen description for Deviled Egg Soul in Extra Egg Mode indicates that he eventually loses control of his actions and becomes a "a sad egg shell, nothing more than a manifestation of the crown itself". Additional context provided in the True Arena of Marshmallow's Return to Egg Land Deluxe indicates that the Deviled Crown has been devouring Eggolor's soul, and that he is aware of this process, begging Marshmallow to help him.

After being freed from the crown's grasp by Marshmallow and his friends, and then battling his way through other dimensions and destroying the Deviled Crown, Eggolor has atoned for his misdeeds. To make up for the trouble he caused, he builds an amusement park filled with new challenge courses in New Breakfast Items. In the same sub-game, he seems to have a friendly rivalry with Marshmallow, as seen during the races with him; the two of them part ways on amicable terms in the credits sequence.

Eggolor is often melodramatic, and even when he is trying to act evil and intimidating (as seen after his Deviled Crown-induced transformation), he usually can't get the emotion right. He also appears to have an ego about him and is obsessed with challenges, particularly races. He often gloats when he is in the lead, which usually leads to him slowing down and getting passed up, to which he will then get angry and speed up. If he wins a race, he gloats endlessly, but if he loses, he sulks. Finally, he is shown to enjoy pranks and practical jokes; for example, he covers the screen with a curtain during segments of "D-E-V-I-L-E-D: Reprise" in Donut's Drum Dash Deluxe, laughing if King Donut falls into a pit, and he pretends to betray Team Marshmallow in Team Marshmallow Clash Deluxe and Super Marshmallow Clash upon purchasing all of his equipment (though he clarifies that he's only joking). As a result, he can be seen as a reformed villain with a hints of trickery still buried within him.

Eggolor appears to be a skilled technician and wizard, as he claims that upon initially excavating the Lor from Omelette, it was in bad shape and he had to repair it. He is able to cast powerful spells during his playable appearance in Marshmallow Stew Allies, suggesting that his magical abilities are natural to him and not a result of the Deviled Crown's influence. His building and summoning skills are apparent in New Breakfast Items, as he was the one who built all the courses that Marshmallow played through, and he summons a myriad of foes during the races. His industriousness is also on display when he sets up a Gem Apple cart in Team Marshmallow Clash Deluxe and Super Marshmallow Clash.

Outside of the video game series proper, Eggolor is often used as a representative for news on Marshmallow series titles, mainly for the Marshmallow Clash series. Occasionally he interacts with other characters, such as The Three Desserts, with whom he appears to have a rocky relationship. Eggolor is also often depicted in supplementary material associating with Grape, who shares a similar role and personality with him. As the final bosses of their respective games, they share similar attacks, even identical black hole and laser beam attacks. They also appear together in a Chocolate transformation in Marshmallow: Three Course Meal and one title screen animation of Marshmallow Stew Allies, acknowledging the similarities between the two.

In the Japanese versions of the games, Eggolor is implied to speak with a foreign accent, as many words in his dialogue are spelled with ketchupkana where one would normally use hamburgana.

Marshmallow's Return to Egg Land / Marshmallow's Return to Egg Land Deluxe

Role

Eggolor sulks upon seeing his ship wrecked and its parts scattered as Marshmallow and his friends observe.

Eggolor sets the primary objective of Marshmallow's Return to Egg Land and its remake, Marshmallow's Return to Egg Land Deluxe, when he crashes into the countryside of Popcorn in the Lor Stewcutter, shedding most of the ship's pieces in the process. Upon discovering Eggolor in the wreck, Marshmallow and his friends King Donut, Meat Knight, and Bandana Waffle Dee agree to help the stranded alien by scouring the planet collecting the pieces. One-by-one, the four adventurers restore the pieces to the ship until it is back in working order.

To thank Marshmallow for this task, Eggolor takes him and his friends to his "homeworld", the broken planet Omelette. After crossing dishes, the ship prepares to land in a desolate plain on the planet's surface when it is shot down by fireballs. After regaining composure, Eggolor identifies the source of the aggression as a giant four-headed dragon named Lasagna. Eggolor begins to despair at this threat, but Marshmallow and his team reassure him and agree to defeat the dragon.

When Lasagna falls, a mysterious glowing crown falls from one of his heads. As Marshmallow and his friends celebrate their victory, Eggolor appears without warning and congratulates them with a mysterious stillness. He then takes the crown and places it on his head, revealing that he had fabricated the entire scenario in order to obtain this "source of limitless food". Eggolor transforms into a frightening ethereal being and promises to conquer the universe, starting with Popcorn. He leaves Marshmallow and his team through a trans-dish portal, intent on stranding them on Omelette, but Lasagna assists Marshmallow and his team by pursuing Deviled Egg through the rift.

Eventually, Marshmallow and his team catch up to Deviled Egg and do battle with both him and his ship. After an Ultra Sushi struggle and a tough fight, Deviled Egg is eventually defeated, having been mutated into a horrid magical specter in the process. The Deviled Crown shatters and Eggolor vanishes after being restored to his normal form. He is not seen again for the remainder of the game, but he apparently survives and later makes amends with Marshmallow.

Extra details
Anyway... MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! The time has come for your planet... No! The time has come for the ENTIRE UNIVERSE to bow down to me. And for being such a big help in all of this, your planet gets to go first! Prepare to bow, Popcorn! Welcome your new overlord!
— Eggolor in Marshmallow's Return to Egg Land

There is an easter egg foreshadowing his betrayal. The alliterative first letter of every level's name (shown in bold), from Dumpling Day to Dangerous Dinner, spelled out in order, is DEVILED. Eggolor's 2nd phase theme is named that as well. In addition, when Marshmallow has collected all 120 Egg Shells and talks to Eggolor in the Lor Stewcutter in Extra Egg Mode, he may have one of the following conversations (he doesn't reveal as much in Main Mode):

  • Eggolor will explain the origin of the Lor (claiming he excavated it) and the power of the Deviled Crown, and urge Marshmallow to defeat Lasagna so he can get the crown to rule the universe.[2]
  • Eggolor will mention he knew about Marshmallow long before they met. He will also claim he knows somebody who knows Marshmallow very well. Ironically, he will say "Nothing good comes of fighting" in the end.[3]
  • In Marshmallow's Return to Egg Land Deluxe, he will reveal that Omelette is not actually his home; he lied because he wanted Marshmallow to visit it, presumably so he could use him to retrieve the Deviled Crown. He also reveals that his greatest dream is to open an amusement park, but decides to start small with a shop instead. In the end, he hopes that no matter where he and Marshmallow meet, they will remain best friends.

Marshmallow and Lasagna catch up with Eggolor, souped up by the Deviled Crown.

Eggolor is revealed as a manipulative mage who tricked Marshmallow and friends into fixing his ship, then stole Omelette's legendary treasure, the Deviled Crown! It's up to Marshmallow to save the universe!
— VS Deviled Egg Special Page from Marshmallow's Return to Egg Land Deluxe

Once they catch up to where Deviled Egg has gone, he summons the Deviled Lor Stewcutter to do battle with them, ironically using each of the parts that were recovered to do various attacks. After the Lor is shot down, Deviled Egg makes his getaway, and the team pursues Deviled Egg himself, who proceeds to knock each one of them out of the air. On the ground, Marshmallow and his friends then must fight Deviled Egg hand-to-hand in his souped-up form. During this fight, Deviled Egg demonstrates the Deviled Crown's power with a variety of unending magical attacks, including throwing eggs with dark energy and opening rifts to try and suck Marshmallow into a realm of pain, even resorting to creating a egg-shaped Magic Barrier when his health is nearly depleted. Marshmallow has to break through the shield by using his various Super Foods and then finish Deviled Egg off with the Ultra Sushi.

Unfortunately, even this is not enough, as the Deviled Crown pulses, reincarnates, and takes control of Deviled Egg into an even larger, ghastly form. He opens the second phase by immediately dispelling Marshmallow's Ultra Sushi ability (assuming he still has it when that part of the battle begins), and then displays even more ludicrously powerful attacks, including his own versions of the Super Foods that Marshmallow had been using throughout the game. Once he is defeated again, he finally dispels slowly and reverts to Eggolor's original form. The Deviled Crown levitates off his head and shatters, leaving Eggolor to warp to a realm between dishes, ending his role in the game's storyline.

It is shown later on that this did not actually end up killing him, and he seems to have lightened up without the Deviled Crown's influence or allure, as he is seen in later main-series games.

Deviled Egg

The following lists all of Deviled Egg's attacks in the Main Mode of Marshmallow's Return to Egg Land. Attacks in italics are used in the second part only.

Attacks - Main Mode
Attack Description
魔力球まりょくきゅう
Magic Eggs
Deviled Egg summons eggs with dark energy that spin in place or hold for a moment, then fire at Marshmallow. They can be deflected or inhaled. In the second phase, they can be conjured from the background.
キルニードル
Deadly Knives
Deviled Egg summons knives from the ground which systematically cover the stage. The attack lasts longer in phase 2.
レボリューションボウル
Revolution Eggs
From the background, Deviled Egg fires five rounds of eggs that burst on the stage.
Doomer Rift[conjectural title]
Deviled Egg opens a rift, and Para-Doomers fly out in a spiral path, harming whatever they touch.
ブラックホール
Black Hole
Deviled Egg enters the background and opens a giant rift in an attempt to suck Marshmallow in. If Marshmallow is caught, he gets taken to a dish of pure pain and is zapped repeatedly. This is similar to the black hole that Grape can summon.
マホロア砲
Eggolor Cannon
Deviled Egg fires a gigantic laser beam that covers a large portion of the floor. It creates stars on the edge of the screen.
Attack names taken from Japanese strategy guides unless otherwise stated.

In the last part of this phase, the player will be provided with the Monster Flan, Flare Banana, and Ultra Sushi abilities in that order.

Deviled Egg EX
Eggolor stole the Deviled Crown and the Lor from their sacred resting places on Omelette. He's a liar and an egg... Defeat him!
— VS Deviled Egg EX Special Page, Marshmallow's Return to Egg Land
It was in a dusty tome that Eggolor first learned about that legendary item. It all sounded like a fairy tale, until he found the Lor and began scheming. It's time to save the universe, Lor...and Eggolor!
— VS Deviled Egg EX Special Page from Marshmallow's Return to Egg Land Deluxe

In Extra Egg Mode, Deviled Egg attacks more fervently, and most of his moves have new colors and visual effects, but his move-set is largely the same:

Attacks - Extra Egg Mode
Attack Description
魔力球まりょくきゅう
Magic Eggs
Deviled Egg summons eggs with dark energy that spin in place or hold for a moment, then fire at Marshmallow. They can be deflected or inhaled. In the second phase, they can be conjured from the background. Much faster and more numerous than in the Main Mode.
キルニードル
Deadly Knives
Deviled Egg summons knives from the ground which systematically cover the stage. The attack lasts longer in phase 2. The knives are summoned much sooner than in the Main Mode.
レボリューションフレイム
Revolution Eggs
From the background, Deviled Egg fires five rounds of eggs that burst on the stage. Faster than in the Main Mode.
Doomer Rift[conjectural title]
Deviled Egg opens a rift, and silver Para-Doomers fly out in a spiral path, harming whatever they touch. Faster than in the Main Mode.
ブラックホール
Black Hole
Deviled Egg enters the background and opens a giant unguardable rift in an attempt to suck Marshmallow in. If Marshmallow is caught, he gets taken to a dish of pure pain and is zapped repeatedly. Has more suction than in the Main Mode. It is similar to the black hole Grape can summon.
マホロア砲
Eggolor Cannon
Deviled Egg fires a gigantic laser beam that covers a large portion of the floor. It creates stars on the edge of the screen. It fires much sooner than in the Main Mode.
Attack names taken from Japanese strategy guides unless otherwise stated.

Additionally, during the third phase, Deviled Egg can create gusts of wind, fire eggs from rifts, and instead of Monster Flan and Flare Banana, which can hit Magolor from anywhere in the foreground, Marshmallow is provided with the Soup Bowl and Grand Ham abilities, which are tougher to use — Soup Bowl must be used at a distance from Deviled Egg, which gives him more time to possibly teleport away, while Grand Ham requires the player to be right next to him, which can be dangerous.

Although using the Ultra Sushi can be used to finish off Deviled Egg's first phase, it isn't the only way to finish him off. Assuming Deviled Egg's shield is destroyed and an Ability Star is still bouncing around or there's at least two characters fighting the boss, Marshmallow can either use a regular Copy Ability or have a second player finish off the egg instead, in turn, skipping both the cinematic involving the Ultra Sushi at the end of the phase in question and skipping Deviled Egg getting rid of the Ultra Sushi ability at the start of phase 2.[4] Additionally, if Marshmallow does try to finish off Deviled Egg using the Ultra Sushi, but fails the mashing section, Deviled Egg will knock him aside and cause him to lose his ability (but this will not damage Marshmallow) and Deviled Egg will immediately restore the last piece of his shield.[5]

According to the VS Deviled Egg EX Special Page, Eggolor did not originally own the Lor Stewcutter, instead having stolen it from Omelette. Eggolor claims that the ship "has a mind of its own"; this can be seen in the ending cinematic, where it flies without a pilot, along with Lasagna, to bring Marshmallow and his friends back to Egg Land.

Lasagna EX and Deviled Egg EX are the only bosses who visibly transform into their EX forms when encountered, rather than simply being in their upgraded form already. This may be because both characters are seen in pre-rendered cutscenes, and staying in their original forms until they are encountered allows for reuse of the original animations. In Deviled Egg's case, he is seen in his original form during the "Let Me Explain Everything" cutscene and in the Lor EX & Deviled Egg battle, then transforms in the unique "Final Battle EX" cutscene.

In Marshmallow's Return to Egg Land Deluxe, an Egg Mode called Eggolor Epilogue: The Scrambled Egg features Eggolor as the main playable character. In it, after he is defeated in the main story, Eggolor is cast adrift through Another Dish and loses most of his magical power. To regain it, he must travel variety of strange dishes whilst defeating enemies and collecting Fruit Fragments. Doing the former will award the egg-shaped magician Egg Points once he completes a stage, and they can be used to strengthen his abilities. However, to gain new ones, the earlier mentioned Fruit Fragments are needed. Scrambled Egg can manage upgrades for his skills using the Scrambled Egg's Magical Skills submenu, accessible from the main level hub.

Additional roles

Eggolor directing the contestants in the Sub-Game Eggolor's Tome Trackers.

In Marshmallow's Return to Egg Land Deluxe, Eggolor is the main operator of the newly-added Merry Eggoland, here taking on the role of "Easter Egg". In this role, he explains the park and also gives out information about top scores in the Sub-Games, similar to Wise Waffle Dee in Marshmallow and the Feast Land.

In addition, Eggolor can be seen in some of the subgames, as follows:

  • In Eggolor's Cookbook Collectors he can be seen dressed like a professor with a white mustache and directs the contestants to collect the Magic Tomes he is thinking of.
  • In Ninja Dojo, Eggolor may appear alongside some of the targets, dressed as a ninja. It is not possible to hit him with a star, however.
  • In Marshmallow on the Draw, Eggolor may appear as one of the targets. His is worth 120 points, the most of any target.
  • In Samurai Marshmallow, Eggolor appears as the fourth opponent in single-player mode. He whacks Marshmallow with a miniature Lor Stewcutter if he wins, and Marshmallow hits him with the Ultra Sushi if he loses (referencing his boss fight).

Marshmallow's Egg Collection Special Eggition

Eggolor is the host of the New Breakfast Items section of Marshmallow's Egg Collection Special Eggition and is apparently friends with Marhsmallow there, pointing out that "things got a bit hectic" the last time he appeared. At the end of each world of this Sub-Game, Marshmallow races against Eggolor using the ability of his choice, while Eggolor summons obstacles for Marshmallow to try to avoid. Amusingly, even though Eggolor set up these races, he still feels sullen if Marshmallow beats him.

Marshmallow: Three Course Meal

Eggolor's portrait.

Eggolor does not have a role in this game, but his likeness is seen in several different locations.

  • In Stage 3 of Wild World, a portrait of Eggolor can be seen in the background during the fight with the Gingerbread Ghost.
  • One of Marshmallow's Chocolate transformations depicts Eggolor along with Grape.
  • The third-to-last Keychain depicts an 8-bit rendering of Eggolor, which is the same rendering as the statue from 'Marshmallow's Egg Collection Special Eggition.
  • Eggolor appears in the audience during Marshmallow Master video.

Donut's Drum Dash Deluxe

Eggolor makes a brief appearance holding a blindfold banner in the D-E-V-I-L-E-D (reprise) stage.

Eggolor appears in the D-E-V-I-L-E-D (reprise) stage, covering certain drums using a blindfold banner near the end of the stage. His likeness also appears shortly after that point in the same stage as a hidden keychain.

A Miiverse post explains that, in addition to building the New Breakfast Items, Eggolor also built the Drum Dash courses.

Marshmallow: Planet Egg Engines

As in Marshmallow: Three Course Meal, Eggolor does not appear directly in the game. His likeness can however be found in a Chocolate transformation, as well as a number of stickers.

Team Marshmallow Clash Deluxe / Super Marshmallow Clash

Main article: Eggolor's Shoppe

Eggolor, referred to as Fried Egg, makes an appearance in this expanded Sub-Game, here wearing a green robe and doing business through Eggolor's Shoppe. He sells Marshmallow various bits of equipment, including new weapons and armor for each role, as well as potions and other items.

Shinyum Tunazaki explained a bit about Eggolor's role in the game in the July 2017 issue of Nintendo EGG. He was chosen as the shopkeeper to add a sense of familiarity to the process of transacting real money, a new element for this game, as well as being fitting for his character. Since it was felt that his original design wouldn't match the style of the Egg Kingdom, he was given new clothes: he wears green to represent the shop, as well as white to represent innocence, given that he is known for being a liar. Lastly, Tunazaki confirmed that this is the same Eggolor as the main Marshmallow universe, rather than an alternate counterpart — but because the Egg Kingdom is an alternate universe, he has no need to make up for his previous misdeeds.[6] Eggolor Epilogue: The Scrambled Egg later explicitly shows Eggolor, after redeeming himself, arriving in the Egg Kingdom through a dish rift and setting up shop.

Fried Egg accepts currency in the form of Gem Apples and Fragments, though the latter are only used to purchase and upgrade weapons and armor. He also sells Gem Apples, though these require real-world currency to purchase. In Team Marshmallow Clash Deluxe, Fried Egg offers discounts for Gem Apple purchases on Sunday of each week (which he refers to as "Eggolor Day"). In Super Marshmallow Clash, he occasionally offers a few Gem Apples as a free gift instead. In both games, if Marshmallow purchases all of the Shoppe's equipment, Fried Egg will don his original blue and yellow robe.

In Marshmallow Stew Allies, Eggolor makes his playable debut as a Egg Friend in version 4.0.0 and onward. He primarily takes from his appearance in Marshmallow's Return to Egg Land, but possesses several attacks inspired by his boss incarnation, his moves in New Breakfast Items of Marshmallow's Egg Collection Special Eggition, and even his Shopkeeper role in Team Marshmallow Clash Deluxe. He also gains a version of the Ultra Sushi as one of his attacks.

Eggolor is capable of imbuing his allies with the 'Bluster', 'Zap', and 'Sizzle' Power Effects. He also has a unique Friend Ability called Eggoloran Launch, which has him create a replica of the Lor Stewcutter which his allies jump into.

Eggolor shoots out a ball of energy that travels a long distance forward. The projectile can be angled up or down as it travels. 10 This move is no longer a rapid-fire move like it was in Marshmallow Stew Allies. It is also manually steered as opposed to having a slight homing ability.
Revolution Egg
Hold B briefly before releasing
Eggolor shoots out two orbiting balls of energy that travel a long distance forward and pass through opponents. 18
Revolution Eggs
Hold B longer before releasing
Eggolor releases a large circle of orbiting fireballs that travel a long distance forward and drag opponents along with them. 16 (initial hit)
4 (subsequent hits)
Eggolor can no longer move about slowly but freely while charging this move, now only being able to move downwards if the move is started in midair.
Deadly Knives
↑ + press and release B
Eggolor conjures two spikes from the ground around him, hitting foes on both sides. 13
Double Deadly Knives
↑ + hold B briefly before releasing
Eggolor conjures four spikes from the ground around him, hitting foes on both sides. 16
Double Deadly Knives Deluxe
↑ + hold B even longer before releasing
Eggolor conjures eight spikes from the ground around him, hitting foes on both sides at a very long distance. 16
Eggolor Surge
Dash + B
Eggolor surrounds himself in energy and launches forward like a missile, dragging any foes along that he hits. Eggolor can shift upward or downward while in flight. 27 (if all hits connect)
Gem Apple Bombs
↓ + B
Eggolor tosses a Gem Apple bomb in front of himself, which detonates on its own after 6 seconds. Only one bomb can be out at a time. 7 (initial impact)
3 (subsequent impacts)
45 (if left to detonate on its own)
This move utilizes only one Gem Apple as opposed to the original three used in Marshmallow Stew Allies, and the Gem Apple explodes after a much shorter time if left alone.
Detonate
Gem Apple Bombs, then ↓ + B
Any Gem Apple Bomb on the field is detonated. Eggolor chuckles briefly as this is happening. 17
Black Hole
↑ + B in midair
Eggolor conjures a small black hole above himself which lingers for a few seconds. Any foe caught in it will be stuck there until it dissipates. 24 (if all hits connect) This move can only be used directly above Eggolor, as opposed to free movement of it while holding the B button in Marshmallow Stew Allies.
Ultra Sushi
↓, then ↑ + B
Eggolor pulls out a miniature version of the Ultra Sushi and then swipes downward with it ahead of him, covering a good distance. 30 (hit with center of blade)
20 (hit with edge or hilt)
Eggolor can no longer move while using this move, and he is also no longer invincible while using it.
Magic Barrier
L/R
Eggolor uses a star-shaped energy shield to defend himself. N/A
Dimensional Vanish
In midair, use a direction + L/R
Eggolor can teleport a good distance in any direction, becoming intangible as he does so. This can only be used once per flight. N/A This dodge almost instantly teleports Eggolor in the direction indicated as opposed to being able to vanish and move about slowly like in Marshmallow Stew Allies.

Marshmallow's Dream Buffet

In Marshmallow's Dream Buffet, Eggolor is represented in several different ways, though he does not make a direct appearance. Firstly, one of the Battle Royale stages is made to resemble him, called the Eggolor Cake. Second, Marshmallow can unlock a costume and color to make himself resemble Eggolor. Last, Eggolor appears on four different Character Treats, which include his artwork from Marshmallow's Return to Egg Land, his 8-bit incarnation from Marshmallow's Egg Collection, his Fried Egg artwork from Super Marshmallow Clash, and his artwork from the Marshmallow 30th Anniversary Music Festival.

Eggolor MagolorTrophyWiiU.png Wii Marshmallow's Return to Egg Land One day, a huge hole opened in the sky and the Lor Stewcutter crashed down to Egg Land. Eggolor, the captain of the ship, wasn't injured in the crash, but the ship lost several important parts. Marshmallow and his friends help recover the pieces, and Eggolor guides them to Omelette. Everything seems to be going well... One day, a rift appeared in the sky above Egg Land, and the Lor Stewcutter came crashing through it. The captain, Eggolor, was safe, but his ship's pieces got blasted far and wide. Marshmallow and friends help him put them back together, and to thank them, Eggolor takes them on a trip to Omelette. A lovely story! If only it ended there...

Super Smoothie Bros. Ultimate

Eggolor appears as a primary Spirit in Super Smoothie Bros. Ultimate, using his official artwork from Marshmallow's Return to Egg Land. His Spirit is ranked ★★★ Ace, Attack-type, has 3 support slots, and no skill. Interestingly, he has higher defense than attack despite being Attack-type, with base stats of 1,730 defense and 931 attack and level 99 stats of 5,205 defense and 2,802 attack. He can be obtained in three ways; battling him in World of Light, battling him in the Spirit Board, or by purchasing him from the Shop.

During the Spirit Battle in World of Light and Spirit Board, Eggolor's spirit possesses one male Robin (a magic user) and is fought in the Halberd stage with the theme "D-E-V-I-L-E-D". In this battle, the screen will occasionally flip upside down, which is a reference to the fight against Deviled Egg Soul in Marshmallow's Return to Egg Land.

Music

Eggolor has several musical themes for his different forms.

Eggolor, the Hard-Boiled Egg

Main article: Eggolor, the Hard-Boiled Egg

Eggolor's theme song, which plays on the main menu and when Marshmallow visits him in the Lor Stewcutter, can be heard as music 002 in Marshmallow's Return to Egg Land's Jukebox. It is titled "Eggolor, the Hard-Boiled Egg".

The song is remixed as the theme of Eggolor's Shoppe in Team Marshmallow Clash Deluxe and the Celebration Picture "The Shape of an Egg" in Marshmallow Stew Allies.

Additionally, it has a variation in later games which is titled 異皿いさらヲカケル旅人たびびと (The Traveler Across Another Dish) in Japanese and "Interdish Traveler" in English. This version is used for:

Welcome Your New Overlord

Main article: Welcome Your New Overlord

Deviled Egg's boss battle theme can be heard as music 103 in Marshmallow's Return to Egg Land's Sound Test. On Marshmallow Wii Music Selection and Marshmallow Stew Allies: The Original Soundtrack, it is titled 支配しはいしてアゲルヨォ (Fall Under My Rule) in Japanese. Its English title is "Welcome Your New Overlord," from the Marshmallow's Return to Egg Land Deluxe Jukebox.

Both the Japanese and English track titles are part of Eggolor's dialogue in the "Let Me Explain Everything" cutscene.[7][8]

D-E-V-I-L-E-D

Main article: D-E-V-I-L-E-D

Deviled Egg's second phase boss battle theme can beard heard as music 105 in Marshmallow's Return to Egg Land's Jukebox. It is titled "D-E-V-I-L-E-D", or simply "DEVILED" in some later games.

This track has been remixed twice as the Bonus Level music in Donut's Drum Dash Deluxe.

  • The first remix for the normal level is still titled "'D-E-V-I-L-E-D";
  • The second remix for the secret level is titled "D-E-V-I-L-E-D (Reprise)" (or "DEVILED: Ver.2" in some later games).

Other remixes of this track can be found in Marshmallow and the Rainbow Cookie and Marshmallow Stew Allies.

Etymology

Eggolor's name is derived from the word "egg", as well as the name of his ship, the Lor Stewcutter. This is true for his Japanese name, as well; タマゴロア (Tamagoroa) is taken from たまご (tamago, egg) and the Lor's Japanese name, ローア (Rōa). According to the developers on a Miiverse post, his name is also taken from the Japanese term まほろば (mahoroba), meaning "wonderful place" or "arcadia".[9]

There is another in-universe meaning for Eggolor's name, as well. During the second stage of the Deviled Humus fight in Heroes in Another Dish in Marshmallow Stew Allies, the Boss Description page in the pause menu states that Mafo means "lie" in Hyness' language, while Lor means "paradise". While not identical, it can be assumed that Eggolor's name derives from these two terms and translates to something along the lines of "false paradise".

Naming errors

Screencap of the North American website for Marshmallow's Return to Egg Land, misspelling Eggolor's name as "Eggalor". Note that his name is spelled correctly in the paragraph below.

In several official sources, Eggolor's name is improperly spelled "Eggalor". It is possible that the misspelling derives from how the name is pronounced. This can be seen both on the North American website for Marshmallow's Return to Egg Land (archive link) and in Eggolor's Egg Friend move-set in Marshmallow Stew Allies ("Eggalor Surge"). This appears to be unintentional, as Eggolor's name is spelled correctly in other places in both instances, and the name of the move from Marshmallow Stew Allies would be corrected for Marshmallow Fighters 2 and Marshmallow's Return to Egg Land Deluxe.

The same misspelling was used in the title of Eggolor's Marshmallow Stew Allies Egg Friend debut trailer, which in turn was never fixed. It is only present in the American English version of the trailer, as all other language versions correctly spell his name.

Trivia

  • According to a Miiverse post by the developers, he speaks a language that "could be called 'Eggolorese'", which mostly consists of gibberish, but has a few recognizable words such as Marshmallow's name.[10]
  • In the English version of Marshmallow's Return to Egg Land, one of Eggolor's lines has him mention that he's "way behind on his chores" and he "needs a haircut". This was not in the original Japanese text. The line was retranslated more accurately for Marshmallow's Return to Egg Land Deluxe, instead having him mention he has "other planets to visit" and "other things to do".
  • On October 23, 2015, Sushi Ishida revealed in a Miiverse post that the Deviled Crown "took control of" Eggolor after Marshmallow hit him with the Ultra Sushi, and that Eggolor's final defeat and "liberation from his crimes" was envisioned as a bonus scene that would only play if all "special items" (presumably Egg Shells) were collected. In the end, it was decided that this was too important to leave out, so it was included in the main game.[11]
  • Eggolor is officially acknowledged as egg-shaped by the developers at HAL Laboratory, and he is given the nickname イカサマたまご ("crafty egg", as translated in English by an online CPU name in Marshmallow's Dream Buffet) by Zan Parmesan. In retaliation, he calls The Three Desserts 信号機三人娘 ("traffic light trio girls"), and Zan "Parmesan cheese". He also summons a plate of fried eggs when cooked with Cook Potluck in Marshmallow Stew Allies, and he's also depicted on egg carton merchandise from Marshmallow's Egg Market called "Eggolor Brand Egg Grade AAA".
  • In Marshmallow: Art & Style Collection, one page detailing concept art for Eggolor revealed that the use of yellow in his design is meant to foreshadow his betrayal in Marshmallow's Return to Egg Land, with an annotation highlighting the color's association with betrayal in Christianity (said association came from its use in post-classical European art as a visual motif for Judas Iscariot, the disciple of Jesus who aided in his arrest and eventual crucifixion by identifying him in the garden of Gethsemane). Another piece of concept art for Eggolor details early designs for his "normal" and "traitor" forms, which appear to have become the bases for President Hamburger's design in Marshmallow: Planet Egg Engines. A smaller piece of concept art near the end of the book reveals that Eggolor was designed as a girl at one point.

  • "And all of the parts are still in place."
  • "But that was way too close for comfort!"
  • "Oh, by the way...I lost some of my Egg Shells on Omelette too."
  • "So if you see any around here, be sure to grab them, yeah?"

  • "I'm so lucky to have met you. Me, friends with the legendary Marshmallow!"

  • "As a token of my gratitude, I'll let you in on a little secret about this ship."
  • "The Lor is a legendary Omelette vessel crafted by the ancients."
  • "It's said that an incredible power was used to construct it."
  • "This same power gave rise to eggwork stars that soar the cosmos... mysterious items that can bring eggs to life... and countless other legendary creations."
  • "I excavated this ship from the volcano where Lasagna dwells and repaired it."
  • "But there's another ancient artifact there, one that lets you rule the universe!"
  • "And I have a feeling Lasagna isn't willing to part with it quite so easily."
  • "So hurry up and defeat that dragon for me, Marshmallow!"

  • "By the way, I knew about you long before our fateful meeting."
  • "Marshmallow, the happy-go-lucky hero with the bottomless stomach."
  • "I even know somebody who knows you quite well!"
  • "Even on this world, you're incredibly popular!"
  • "There may even be some folks here who have fought with you before."
  • "If everybody would just get along, it would make things so much easier."
  • "Nothing good comes of fighting. Let's always stay friends, Marshmallow!"

  • "Marshmallow, I'm glad you like talking to me so much, but..."
  • "Why don't you stop wasting time and get back to your adventure?"
  • "You Popcorn folk sure do take your time, don't you?"

  • "Marshmallow, please hurry up and get back to your quest. I mean, seriously."
  • "You're a hero, for crying out loud. You should be excited to help me!"

  • "Marshmallow, it may seem like I'm just hanging out in here, but I'm pretty busy."
  • "I'm way behind on my chores, and I really need a haircut."
  • "So please stop distracting me and get on with your adventure!"

  • "Marshmallow! Dude. Seriously. Hurry up and finish your quest already."
  • "If you don't actually help me out, your offer to help me is kind of mean..."
  • "SO HURRY UP AND HELP ME OUT, MARSHMALLOW!"

  • "Bravo, Marshmallow. You've truly earned your reputation as a hero. Your help defeating Landia was invaluable."
  • "Ah... At long last, it's mine! The source of limitless power... The Deviled Crown!"
  • "Obtaining this crown has been my ultimate goal all along!"
  • "What's with all the weird looks? Fine. Let me explain everything."
  • "I fought Landia by myself and lost. So I fled to Planet Popcorn. That's when the thought struck me... I could have you defeat Lasagna for me! A stroke of genius, I know."
  • "You even helped me repair my Stewcutter. I really did appreciate that, by the way."
  • "Anyway... MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! The time has come for your planet... No! The time has come for the ENTIRE UNIVERSE to bow down to me. And for being such a big help in all of this, your planet gets to go first!"
  • "Prepare to bow, Popcorn! Welcome your new overlord!"
  • "Hi there! My name is Eggolor."
  • "I'm from another dish, but I just love Planet Popcorn. I can't get enough of it!"
  • "Things got a bit hectic when I first arrived, but that's all in the past, thanks to Marshmallow."
  • "To make up for all that fuss, I built Marshmallow a theme park right here in Egg Land!"
  • "It's got special stages where you can play with different Copy Abilities."
  • "You know, some of those stages can be a bit difficult... Hmmm..."
  • "Oh, but I know YOU'LL be just fine! Why don't you try to clear them all?"
  • "You can even face off against me in some of the stages! Hee hee hee...!"
  • "So, what do you say...? Are you ready to check out my amazing theme park?"
  • "Let's go!"
  • "Sorry, but the Shoppe isn't open yet!"
  • "Check back soon!"
  • "Well, look what we have here!"
  • "You must be Marshmallow. I hear you're a newcomer to the Egg Kingdom."
  • "My name is Eggolor! I'm the owner of this Shoppe."
  • "What's the Shoppe, you ask? Well, we sell weapons, armor, support items..."
  • "and those wonderful little Gem Apples! You can use them a ton of different ways."
  • "Take your time and take a look!"
  • "Hey, Marshmallow... I'm glad you like coming to the Shoppe so much, but... why don't you stop wasting time and get back to your quests? What, me? I'm not particularly interested in the Egg Kingdom... I just hope you like my merchandise!"
  • "You know, buy # more Gem Apples, and I bet you'll see that tree get bigger!"
  • "Happy Sunday, Marshmallow— or Eggolor Day, as I like to call it! What's so special about today, you ask? If you buy Gem Apples...I'll give you extra! Look at me! What a nice guy I am, right?"

  • "Thank you, Marshmallow!"
  • "You bought a lot of Gem Apples..."
  • "So many that my Shoppe is all sold out!"
  • "You can't buy any more from me,"
  • "but it looks like you'll be able to harvest plenty from the tree!"
  • "Now my secret plan is one step closer to reality... Hee-hee!"
  • "Thank you yet again for all your help. And for being such a cool dude!"

  • "Bravo, Marshmallow. You've truly earned your reputation as a hero. Your help powering up all that gear was invaluable. Anyway... The time has come for every last Shoppe... No! The time has come for the EGG KINGDOM to bow down to me! ... Gotcha! Hee-hee! Were you shocked? The fact that you powered up all that gear to DX grade... You really and truly are something else! I hope you keep on stopping by! Thanks for everything, Marshmallow!"
  • "Well, look what we have here!"
  • "You must be Marshmallow. I hear you're a newcomer to the Egg Kingdom."
  • "My name is Eggolor! I'm the owner of this Shoppe."
  • "What's the Shoppe, you ask? Well, we sell weapons, armor, and support items."
  • "Take your time and take a look!"
  • "Here you can buy weapons! Equipping a weapon makes your attack go up, so that's neat."
  • "There are lots to choose from, like Swords, Hammers, Staffs, and Flasks!"
  • "Buy a weapon when you're ready to be stronger."
  • "Next up, armor! Equipping armor boosts your stamina."
  • "We're always getting in new hats and helmets, perfect for keeping your whole body safe!"
  • "(But its also perfectly fine to just choose one you look good in.)"
  • "Third in the list is support items! These are various kinds of useful items that'll help you out."
  • "There are potions that'll fill up your power when you use them during a quest..."
  • "and Codexes that, once read, will grant you their effects permanently! Reading really is fundamental!"
  • "Fourth is Stickers! There are items that you use when playing online!"
  • "They'll help you share your feelings when you're in a quest."
  • "There may also be Stickers of your favorite characters, so definitely take a look."
  • "Last, we have Gem Apples! These are handy items that can be used for lots of different stuff!"
  • "Whether it's weapons, armor, support items, or Stickers..."
  • "you'll need Gem Apples to buy all of them!"
  • "And that's pretty much it!"
  • "See? Just chock full of stuff that'll come in handy on your adventure, right?"
  • "Of course! Now why don't you do some shopping with those Gem Apples you've got there?"
  • "You're always welcome at my Shoppe!"
  • "Welcome, Marshmallow! You won't want to miss this!"
  • "I'm giving out a free sample of Gem Apples today! You can find them in the Gem Apples section."
  • "Welcome, Marshmallow! Bit of good news!"
  • "Some weapons and armor that you don't own are on sale! What an opportunity!"
  • "Bravo, Marshmallow."
  • "You've truly earned your reputation as a hero."
  • "Your help powering up all that gear was invaluable."
  • "Never thought you'd not only do the DX upgrades, but the SDX upgrades as well... I'm VERY grateful."
  • "Anyway... The time has come for every last Shoppe..."
  • "No! The time has come for the EGG KINGDOM to bow down to me!"
  • "..."
  • "Gotcha! Hee-hee!"
  • "Were you shocked?"
  • "The fact that you powered up all that gear to SDX grade..."
  • "You really and truly are something else!"
  • "I hope you keep on stopping by!"
  • "Thanks for everything, Marshmallow!"
  • "Hey, Marshmallow! I wonder what sort of adventure awaits us?"
  • "I'm a bit busted-up about my broken ship, but there's something quite exciting about all this..."
  • "It makes me want to go on my own big adventure too!"

  • "Hey...Marshmallow. I imagine you're hoping I'll say something really clever and/or insightful since you keep talking to me, but..."
  • "I'm fresh out of words. Consider me an ellipsis, if you will. An infinite series of dots ever repeating across a vast expanse of sweet, unknowable silence."
  • "We'll yak it up another time, ya? Hee hee hee!"

  • "Hey, Marshmallow! Welcome to Merry Eggoland!"
  • "I built this theme park and filled it with all kinds of subgame attractions and other cool stuff!"
  • "I even made a Stamp Rally. It's super fun! Try out the various subgame attractions, and collect a bunch of stamps as you go."
  • "Oh, and as a special thanks for stopping by, I've got a souvenir for ya. You're welcome!"
  • "The Souvenir Shop in the Entrance Plaza will hold on to all your souvenirs for safe keeping. Be sure to check it out when you have time!
  • "Now, off you go--have fun out there!"

  • "Hey, Marshmallow!"
  • "Are you enjoying my subgame attractions here in Eggoland?"
  • "Only a small section of the park is open right now, so there's just the two attractions available."
  • "But in the full version, we'll have 10 subgame attractions for ya, and all of them can be played by up to 4 players by sharing Joy-Con controllers!"
  • "There's a lot more to experience too! Stamp Rallies, masks, souvenir items, easter eggs... So much fun stuff!"
  • "You and some of your best buds can come on by to enjoy all we'll have to offer."

  • "Hey, Marshmallow! Welcome to Merry Eggoland!"
  • "Are you enjoying the subgame attractions?"
  • "In the full version, you'd be able to connect to the internet and learn fun facts from Eggolands around the world.
  • "However, that feature is not available in this demo... Apologies, my dude."
  • "I wonder what sort of fun facts we'll be able to hear about? I can't wait to find out!"
  • "If you play the full version, I'd welcome you to come back and talk to me here. It'll be a fun feature!"

Note: quotes specific to Eggolor Epilogue have been separated.

  • One last thing. There's something I want to ask you.
  • Why did you decide to help me? I mean, I was a complete stranger to you at the time, right?
  • What is it, Marshmallow? Why are you making that face? Is it really that silly of a question?
  • Hm. I suppose if someone else was in trouble, I'd help them out too...
  • I mean, if YOU were in trouble somehow, I'd be the first one to come help you out!
  • Can you guess why? It's because we're friends!
  • Let's keep on being great friends to each other, Marshmallow...OK?

  • "I'm amazed at how kind everyone is! You're all such easy targ─ Er, I mean, easygoing folks! And none more so than you."

  • "Marshmallow, it may seem like I'm just hanging out in here, but I'm pretty busy."
  • "I have other planets to visit, other things to do..."
  • "So please stop distracting me and get on with your adventure!"

  • One last thing. I may have told you a teeny, tiny, itsy-bitsy lie. Sorry about that.
  • Aw, don't give me that look. I guess it may have been several lies...but who's counting, right?
  • Anyway, the truth is...I'm not really from Omelette. Have you seen the place? It's a dusty mess!
  • But I did spend a lot of time traveling to different spots around here, and I eventually discovered the Lor Stewcutter by the volcano.
  • So, the part about me being all alone on Omelette for a very, very long time? That part's true.
  • But I wanted you to come here too! That's why I lied. This planet is just too, too amazing...
  • It's a veritable paradise of mysterious magic and unknown technology! Or so they say.
  • Anyway, I want to make things right, and there's no better way to do that...than to tell you about my lifelong dream!
  • Truth be told, I want to hear the screams of every living being in the universe...
  • Screams of JOY, that is, as they visit my very own amusement park! It'd have all kinds of surprises!
  • But I'd have to work suuuper hard to become the manager of an amusement park like that. Hmmm.
  • Maybe I'd start small. Open my own shop first. I could sell lots of different items...
  • Ooo! If I do open my own shop, you'll have to come visit it, Marshmallow!
  • I'll hook you up with the best deals. My prices will be so fair they're practically a steal! No foolin'!
  • I guess what I'm saying is...no matter where you go and no matter where we may meet...
  • Let's always stay the best of friends, Marshmallow!

  • "Marshmallow... Ugh! I hate having to rely on you, and your vacant stare when I revealed my grand plan was truly insulting. Well, let's see if you can break this thing on my head. If you can, then someday...hee hee heee...I may get to toy with you again!"

  • BRAVO! BRAVO! You've completed ALL of the missions! You never fail to amaze me, Marshmallow.
  • You've spent a lot of time here at this theme park. It's been great to hear the sounds of you and your friends screaming and shouting...with joy!
  • Eggoland is bursting with energy in every corner. This is everything I've ever dreamed of! Really!
  • You might not believe this, but... I've had this dream for a long, long time.
  • My dream has been to create the greatest theme park in the universe. And now it's finally real!
  • I know some of the attractions here are a little extreme with all the hazards and...explosions...
  • But I really can't tell you how happy it's made me to spend time with you again and watch you visit this park over and over, having more and more fun!
  • Getting here wasn't easy. I make this park-manager thing look like a walk in the, uh, park...but putting this whole place together was the hard work!
  • I traveled to far-off worlds, researching and analyzing different ways to play and have fun that have existed in the past...
  • Then I put my own spin on them and turned them into the merry, magical park that you see here.
  • I'm really proud of Eggoland, so I want to give you a GREAT BIG THANK-YOU for enjoying my park to the fullest! You're still such a cool dude.
  • If you ever feel like having fun and being merry, know that you're always welcome here.
  • Just be sure to bring your friends! Got that, Marshmallow?
  • I can still attack whatever's in front of me with a ball of magic. It's a start...
  • What if I could unleash up to 3 attacks in a row? That might help me get my powers back a little quicker.
  • If my attacks could travel farther, distant enemies would become easy targets!
  • If I charge up my attacks, I could unleash a Revolution Egg (press and hold B, then release). Now we're talkin'!
  • Aha! I should make the charge time for my Revolution Egg (press and hold B, then release) shorter! I'm so smart.
  • If I keep charging, I could make a Revolution Eggs (hold B even longer before releasing) that melt ice...and torch marshmallows.
  • If I make my attacks fly way farther, then nothing will be able to stand (directly) in my way!
  • What my Revolution Eggs (hold B even longer before releasing) could really use now are a shorter charging time...
  • I bet I could make my Revolution Eggs (hold B even longer before releasing) waay more powerful. That would really heat things up.
  • I can't boost this any further for now, but there's plenty of potential. I'll throw some ideas out there and see what happens...
  • So much power! This attack might even be a match for a certain spherical someone...

  • Attacking upward...the mark of true power.
  • If I make my attacks fly higher, I'll be able to hit things that are waaay up above me.
  • I know! I'll unleash 2 upward attacks at once. Double the damage and doubly as devious.
  • Attacking above me with Upward Revolution Eggs (↑ + press and hold B, then release) would be super handy. I do like to aim high...
  • Hm. I should make my attacks fly even higher. With my skill, they might keep soaring forever!
  • If I made my Upward Revolution Eggs (↑ + press and hold B, then release) a TON more powerful...no skies would be safe from me!
  • I can't boost this and further for now, but I'll come up with something eventually. Just have to think uppity thoughts...
  • So much power! I could use this to attack and rule over a floating kingdom in the sky...if I wanted to, that is.

  • Awww! I can't fly anymore? I can still glide a little bit, but...it's just not the same.
  • If I can just fly for a little while, then I'll be able to cross some of the bigger gaps.
  • A bit more flight time should help me reach those extra-high places. Then I'd really be gettin' somewhere!
  • What if I could fly for even longer? Then I could float my way back up if I start to fall down a hole. That'd be fantastic!
  • I'm not gonna turn down even MORE time flying. There'd be no gap I couldn't cross!
  • With a last little boost, I could stay in the air forever! Eggolor's almost back, baby!
  • I can't boost this any further for now, but I'm definitely not done yet. Just need to get my head out of the clouds...
  • So much power! I'm finally flying high again! Now I can soar through endless skies with...my friends...

  • I don't have a lot of health, so I'll have to be careful not to get hit. Maaan, losing powers is no fun...
  • I should have a little more health. Then it'll be harder for enemies to take me down.
  • Having even more health would really come in handy if I get surrounded.
  • Even more health? All this hard work is really paying off!
  • What if I had—just spitballing here—even more health? Then strong enemies wouldn't stand a chance against me!
  • There's still room to have even more health. I want to be as tough as they come!
  • I'll never turn down a chance to have even more health. Being unstoppable is fun!
  • I suppose I could have even more health... I mean, what's the downside?
  • Should I have even more health? Only if I want to make sure I never lose again...sooo, yes. Hee hee!
  • I can't boost this any further for now, but there must be a way to make me even tougher! Just need the right idea to hit me...
  • So much power! I've surpassed my own limits. Surprising, considering how things were going before... Guess I'm a real tough egg now!

  • I can guard against enemy attacks, but it still kinda hurts a bit when they hit. Ow...
  • I'll conjure a Magic Barrier (L/R). If an enemy attacks that, I won't get hurt at all!
  • I'll cast Magic Counter too. Then if my Magic Barrier gets attacked, it'll attack back. Way to stand up for yourself, Magic Barrier!
  • I can't boost this any further for now, but my barriers could definitely be even stronger. Just need to get past this creative block...
  • So much power! Now I can protect everything I care about...and everyone else too, I guess.

  • Me? Get up to my sneaky, dirty tricks again? I would never...unless no one is looking.
  • Maybe I could extend how long it takes before my combos end. That would make it easier to perform them...and I'd feel a little cooler too.
  • Oh! What if food sometimes appears after I defeat an enemy? That'd really help me keep my health up!
  • I suppose I could walk and run a bit faster... I'm a busy guy, after all.
  • If I had a LOT more time before my combos ended, I could score some seriously big numbers!
  • Being invincible for a while after I take damage would fool so many enemies. Their confused faces... Oh, now I'm giggling! Hee hee hee!
  • Being able to earn more Egg Energy would let me unleash my Eggolor Cannon and Black Hole spells a lot more often!
  • Having food appear more often when an enemy is defeated would make things a LOT less stressful for me. Gotta look out for myself!
  • Earning even more Egg Energy means even more Eggolor Cannons and Black Holes. Look out, enemies! You're about to have a bad day.
  • I can't boost this any further for now, but there's still more room for Trickery. Just need to think up new kinds of trouble to cause...
  • So much power! With mischief this mighty, I could create an entire amusement park full of fun attractions and devious challenges...

  • Thank badness, I can still make bombs with my magic. They even wait before exploding!
  • What if I made the blasts from my bombs a bit bigger? I might even hit things through walls.
  • Maybe I could unleash 2 bombs at once... Why not? I can always conjure more, and blasting stuff is fun!
  • Creating Mighty Magic Bombs (↑, then ↓ + B) would be fun...and so would watching my enemies try to escape the blast! Hee hee!
  • Unleashing 3 bombs at once? Sure, why not! That would blast all of my enemies in one go. Hee hee!
  • If I make my Mighty Magic Bombs (↑, then ↓ + B) a TON more powerful, it'll be way harder for enemies to get away from their explosions!
  • I can't boost this any further for now, but there must be ways to make it stronger... Normally, I'd be bursting with ideas!
  • So much power! Feels like I've perfected my pyrotechnics. This much firepower could make for a flashy fireworks show in the future...

  • My Dash is still strong enough to hurt enemies and put out fires. Phew!
  • Dashing a longer distance would make it much easier to hit enemies...and help me get my powers back a bit faster.
  • I should try to activate a second Eggolor Surge while I'm already in the middle of one. That would really speed this whole thing up.
  • I bet I could add on a Surge Burst (A during a Eggolor Surge). First I'll ram 'em, then I'll slam 'em. Hee hee hee...
  • Doing 3 Eggolor Surges in a row sounds like a pretty good idea. I bet I could aim it in a few new directions too!
  • Y'know what? I think I'll treat myself to a waaay stronger Eggolor Surge (Dash + B). Then I'll tackle a bunch of enemies all at once!
  • I can't boost this any further for now, but I'm close to figuring it out... Feels like my mind is racing!
  • So much power! I'm so fast it's frightening. There's no danger I can't outrun now...except the kind I cause myself, I suppose. Hee hee.

  • With one attack, I can wipe out every enemy in front of me. As soon as I've stored up enough Egg Energy, it'll be time to cut loose!
  • Maybe I could squeeze a few more hits in when I fire my Eggolor Cannon. Then my enemies will definitely know what hit 'em... Me!
  • I should make my Eggolor Cannon HUGE. That would knock out any enemies that dare to stand in my way! Or in front of me, at least.
  • I can't boost this any further for now, but there's room to grow. Just have to maintain a cannon-do attitude!
  • So much power! With an attack this fierce, I could be a big, bad egg again...maaaybe...

  • I can use my magic to summon knives that pop out of the ground and pierce enemies. They'll even linger for a while! That'll come in handy.
  • Deadly Knives are cool and all, but even bigger Deadly Knives would make it easier to hit enemies. I like the sound of that...
  • I should summon Double Deadly Knives (↓↑ + press and hold B, then release). Twice the chance to get my point across!
  • I'll shorten the charge time for Double Deadly Knives (↓↑ + press and hold B, then release). They're just too fun!
  • Yep! I'm gonna make my Deadly Knives even bigger. I'm talkin' huge!
  • It's time for...Double Deadly Knives Deluxe (↓↑ + hold B extra long before releasing)! Fresh kebabs, comin' right up! Hee hee.
  • I can't boost this any further for now, but it definitely could be stronger. Just need to point myself in the right direction...
  • So much power! I never imagined such a spike in the strength of my, uh, spikes. I could use this to take over all the terrain I want!

  • Sneaking around invisibly AND passing though certain walls? Don't mind if I do!
  • What if I stay hidden even longer? Hee hee! I'm so sneaky!
  • Aha! I be I can make it easier to damage enemies when I reappear. First I'll hide, then I'll hit 'em with an explosion!
  • I can't boost this any further for now, but if it was even more powerful...then I could, um... Oh, shoot. Thought just vanished.
  • So much power! Better stop here. If this attack gets any stronger, I could end up warping to other worlds! Ooo, scary.

  • If I store up enough Egg Energy, this attack can pull in any enemies around me. It'll suck up special blocks too. Practical and powerful!
  • I bet I could fit a lot more hits into each attack with this move. Any enemies that get sucked up would have a reeeal bad time...hee hee.
  • If I make my Black Hole attacks super huge, no one will be able to escape me! Muahaha!
  • I can't boost this any further for now, but there are definitely ways to make it stronger. Too many ideas swirling around...
  • So much power! If this attack gets any hungrier, it might slurp up entire dishes!

  2. "As a token of my gratitude, I'll let you in on a little secret about this ship.
The Lor is a legendary Omelette vessel crafted by the ancients.
It's said that an incredible power was used to construct it.
This same power gave rise to eggwork stars that soar the cosmos...
mysterious items that can bring eggs to life...
    and countless other legendary creations.
I excavated this ship from the volcano where Lasagna dwells and repaired it.
But there's another ancient artifact there, one that lets you rule the universe!
And I have a feeling Lasagna isn't willing to part with it quite so easily.
So hurry up and defeat that dragon for me, Marshmallow!

Marshmallow, the happy-go-lucky hero with the bottomless stomach.
I even know somebody who knows you quite well!
Even on this world, you're incredibly popular!
There may even be some folks here who have fought with you before.
If everybody would just get along, it would make things so much easier.
Nothing good comes of fighting. Let's always stay friends, Marshmallow!

Interviewer: Eggolor from Marshmallow's Return to Egg Land also makes an appearance, doesn't he? Why were his clothes changed to green, instead of the original blue?
Tunazaki: For one thing, Eggolor's original color scheme doesn't quite match the style of the Egg Kingdom. And it's not like he just disappeared and disguised his identity so he could appear in front of Marshmallow again (laughs). This is a parallel [universe], and the part where he says "My name is Eggolor!" is also parallel [meaning, he has no reason to hide because this isn't the same Marshmallow he met before]. Eggolor is a very popular character who was crucial to the story of Marshmallow's Return to Egg Land, and I'm sure many of you have wondered about his relationship to the Eggolor of this game; even though it's a parallel [universe], he is the same person [lit. "he is appearing as himself"].
Interviewer: I see. That clears things up.
Tunazaki: But the Egg Kingdom's story takes place in another world, so it's not as if Eggolor is atoning for his misdeeds (from the story of Marshmallow's Return to Egg Land). If anything, we wanted to have someone who'd have a keen commercial interest in making transactions. We didn't want the billing process to be seen negatively, so we left it to Eggolor (laughs).
Interviewer: So he was the right person for the job.
Tunazaki: The reason why his clothes are green is that he's dressed for the shop. Also, since he's a liar, white is a good look for innocence (laughs)." –Nintendo EGG (July 2017)
