Switch Block[1] is a block that appeared in Kirby's Block Ball. It takes the appearance of a small gray circle with a star on it and orbiting white circles.
The Switch Block makes its one and only appearance in Kirby's Block Ball. It can be found out in the open on certain rounds in various stages, usually in the second and third rounds (though none can be found in Stage 11). Colliding with the block will activate a Bonus Chance (referred to as "Bonus Round" by the manuals), which turns all remaining destructible blocks on the screen into Through Blocks and gives Kirby 30 seconds to remove them all. If all the blocks are removed in that time frame, the round ends. Otherwise, any remaining blocks return to their previous forms.
Activating the Switch Block is worth 500 points. If a Bonus Chance is completed successfully, an additional score is given based on the number of seconds left and the number of through blocks removed added together and multiplied by 500. This is one of the surest ways to reach the Borderline score quickly on any given stage.
- Once all the Switch Blocks are erased, the Bonus Round begins. You receive bonus points by clearing the screen perfectly. --Kirby's Block Ball Instruction Booklet (North American print), page 14
