Hello, fellow Kirby music enjoyers, and welcome to the Music Polls! On this sub-page, you can vote for your preferred music piece, which will be paired against a worthy opposing piece. Each will be given appropriate text, be it a brief musical analysis, quote, or in-game context, the purpose of which is to create an atmosphere or mimic the music's character.

You may suggest new poll ideas on my talk page or Discord DMs (shadowmagolor).

Rules[edit]

  • The two themes in question must be comparable in terms of character, musical characteristics, and value.
    • Value is determined by the amount of remixes or other acknowledgement of a theme, the status of its game of origin, and general reception. These are relatively subjective, but for example, one would not be pairing "VS. Star Dream" against "Squashini" since it would take huge bias to favour the latter. "C-R-O-W-N-E-D", on the other hand, is quite comparable to "VS. Star Dream".
  • The themes must have existing music pages (with ideally non-conjectural titles), as well as audio files of sufficient length and quality for the first 30 seconds of the tracks. Official remixes/arrangements are acceptable, but dedicated medleys should be avoided.
    • If you want a theme to be featured in the polls but don't have the expertise to make a music page, you can let me know, and I'll try to prioritize its creation if possible.

Polls[edit]

"Shiver Star" vs "Snowy Fields"[edit]

The ultimate showdown between the winter themes ever. Two masterpieces approach snow from different angles.

  • "Shiver Star": The fifth Star Kirby and co. visit is eerily similar to Earth. What happened to its original inhabitants, where did they go? Now, the planet is an abandoned yet beautiful winter wonderland with magical scenery, fun sleigh rides, sparkly igloos, and beautiful music.
  • "Snowy Fields": The composer of this theme loves snow, which is a source of inspiration for his winter themes. "Snowy Fields" in particular was composed on December 25th, and has a matching cheerful and cozy atmosphere!

"Slippery Steps" vs "Gorgeous-Go-Round"[edit]

Let the buffoonery begin! Portraying the playful side of their respective composers' styles are these two exciting stage themes.

  • "Slippery Steps": "That one dinky theme from Kirby's Return to Dream Land" has rightfully earned its title. Its intro and melody seem to slowly step down as Kirby progresses through the icy steps of White Wafers. One slip-up, and he's gotta redo the whole puzzle. What has our goofy goober done? Is this what the descent into madness sounds like?
  • "Gorgeous-Go-Round": A true spiritual successor to "Stage: Comical", this honky-tonk theme is as goofy as one would imagine Kirby and casinos go together. Watch out, roulette tables a-spinning, pool balls a-coming! Clown Acrobot below; Kirby's not a clown, he's the entire circus!

"Exotic Pyramid" vs "Dried-up Sea"[edit]

The classic duel of the deserts. Two heated tracks by Jun Ishikawa that convey the flare of their respective arid worlds.

  • "Exotic Pyramid": Much like the Tornado ability presented for the stage, this theme is in perpetual motion. It builds up and climbs higher and higher before it hits a strong and passionate stop. This stop conveys much of the "exotic" character. Maybe it's a heated flamenco stomp? The motion then continues on and on and on!
  • "Dried-up Sea": Planet Popstar is being drained of its natural resources by the Haltmann Works Company. While Overload Ocean is highly industrialized, this sea is all dried up, leaving the arid deserts of Gigabyte Grounds. Perhaps, this is none other than what remains of the lush Secret Sea of Orange Ocean, where many fateful battles between Kirby and Meta Knight took place? Such a duel lies ahead once more across the wasteland...
