Arena Waddle Dee doesn't have much personality, but since he tries to fight Kirby in The Arena, it's safe to assume that he's a very courageous Waddle Dee. This is further proven upon in Kirby Super Star Ultra, as well as all of his other unofficial future appearances, where he… Oops, I'm getting ahead of myself. I don't want to spoil the rest of this supercalifragilistic page. Anyway, Arena Waddle Dee can also be described as very silly, foolish, or maybe even a nincompoop. This is mainly due to the fact that he is used as a joke in every official appearance, being the easiest enemy in every Boss Endurance mode he appears in (unless Kirby is using an ability like Sleep, in which case he's almost guaranteed to do a bit of damage, but it's not possible to get the Sleep ability in these modes, so nobody cares).

This article is about the Waddle Dee that appears in The Arena. For the regular ol' Waddle Dee, see this page.
No telling if it's true, but according to the ancient scrolls, Arena Waddle Dee may reappear in other games depending on whether HAL Laboratory gives him more lore.. It seems this being of waddle will wander The Arena until one day he is brought back in a new game. When he returns, hopefully it will be…official.

Arena Waddle Dee[conjectural title][Jambandra title][derived from New Worldian][from internal data][citation needed][needs verification][1], also referred to as ENEMY, BOSS, or simply Waddle Dee, is, unsurprisingly, a Waddle Dee. He first appeared in Kirby Super Star, where he is used as a joke boss in The Arena, being completely motionless but having the most health out of any Waddle Dee. Later on, he would reappear in the Boss Endurance mode of Kirby & The Amazing Mirror, as well as remake of Kirby Super Star; Kirby Super Star Ultra, always serving largely the same role in each game. Or at least, that's what people want you to think. In reality, he is secretly one of the most important characters in the Kirby series, making appearances in almost every game.

Physical appearance

KSS Waddle Dee.png

Arena Waddle Dee does not look like your typical Waddle Dee. Well, actually, he does, but that doesn't mean he's not special.[2] Just like most other Waddle Dees, he has a light orange skin with black eyes, and weird stubs instead of actual limbs. In Kirby & The Amazing Mirror, Arena Waddle Dee gained a minor redesign, making him look identical to every other Waddle Dee in that game. Actually, the redesign happened in Kirby: Nightmare in Dream Land, but he didn't officially appear in that game. Arena Waddle Dee once again got redesigned in Kirby Super Star Ultra, obtaining a very fabulous blue bandana, which he also wears in Revenge of the King. Just ignore the fact that this main game takes place after Spring Breeze, which is a retelling of Kirby's Dream Land, meaning that he somehow lost the bandana before the events of every other game. His lore is already confusing enough. Arena Waddle Dee's only movement consists of standing, walking, and jumping. This may not seem very impressive, but you will definitely be impressed with what else he can do in his unofficial appearances, unless you're already bored and want to read another page instead.

Personality

Arena Waddle Dee doesn't have much personality, but since he tries to fight Kirby in The Arena, it's safe to assume that he's a very courageous Waddle Dee. This is further proven upon in Kirby Super Star Ultra, as well as all of his other unofficial future appearances, but I don't want to get ahead of myself. I don't want to spoil the rest of this supercalifragilistic page. Anyhow, Arena Waddle Dee can also be described as very silly, foolish, or maybe even a nincompoop. This is mainly due to the fact that he is used as a joke in every official appearance, being the weakest enemy in every Boss Endurance mode he appears in. But we will always love him no matter what, and one day, he might clobbah dat dere Kirbeh.

Moveset

Due to being a boss in so many Kirby games, Arena Waddle Dee has a large number of signature attacks which he uses in most of his fights. Wait, what do you mean I copied that sentence from another page? At least I didn't copy the following table, which lists all of Arena Waddle Dee's most notable attacks in the order they first appeared in:

Arena Waddle Dee's moveset
Name First game used Description Notes
Nothing Kirby Super Star Arena Waddle Dee does literally nothing. He's just standing there… MENACINGLY! It's not very menacing.
Walk Kirby & The Amazing Mirror Arena Waddle Dee walks forward (left, towards Kirby's start point). Once he reaches the end of the screen, he starts walking the other way (right, towards not Kirby's start point). He walks slightly faster than a regular Waddle Dee. I think. I'm not so sure, actually.
Jump Kirby Super Star Ultra Arena Waddle Dee jumps forward in the same direction he's walking in. This attack might be a reference to Mario Mario from Mario, since he also jumps.[3] Mario even used to be called Jumpman, what a funny name!
Shooter Cutter Kirby Fighters 2 Arena Waddle Dee shoots out four boomerangs, which don't grant the Cutter ability, since that's not how Copy Abilities work in this game.
This attack is an overused reference to the boss fight with Marx in Kirby Super Star.
Added in version 3.0.0

Game appearances

Arena Waddle Dee's appearances, with appearances in bold being the only ones that matter
Game Role Notes
Kirby series
Kirby's Dream Land Appears as a regular enemy (somewhere, probably) This is the first appearance of Waddle Dees in general. One of these just has to be Arena Waddle Dee, right?
Kirby's Adventure Enemy This is the first game to have a Boss Endurance, as well as a literal Arena, yet Arena Waddle Dee is fought in neither.
Kirby's Pinball Land Enemy exclusive to Wispy-Woods Land This is the first game to only feature one Waddle Dee. This undoubtedly means that this Waddle Dee is Arena Waddle Dee.
Kirby's Dream Course Enemy Why do Waddle Dees have green feet in this game?
Kirby's Avalanche First opponent This is the second game to only feature one Waddle Dee.
Kirby's Dream Land 2 Enemy
Kirby's Block Ball Enemy
Kirby's Toy Box Existing, giving 100 points to Kirby This is the third game to only have one Waddle Dee.
Kirby Super Star First official appearance as a boss '
Kirby's Star Stacker (Game Boy) Playable character This is the first game where a regular Waddle Dee is playable. That MUST mean it's Arena Waddle Dee.
Kirby's Dream Land 3 Enemy
Kirby's Star Stacker (Super Famicom) First opponent (again) This is the fourth game to only have one Waddle Dee.
Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards Supporting protagonist, boss, and playable character in Sub-Games This is the fifth game to only have one Waddle Dee, and the third time a Waddle Dee is playable, et cetera et cetera, you get the idea.
Kirby Tilt 'n' Tumble Enemy
Kirby: Nightmare in Dream Land Enemy
Kirby Air Ride Enemy
Kirby Slide None Since this game does not include characters, it is impossible for Arena Waddle Dee to make an appearance. Despite this, the game is still in the list of his appearances, since including every game is funny.
Kirby & The Amazing Mirror Second official appearance as a boss Arena Waddle Dee is 8 pixels smaller in this game, compared to Kirby Super Star.
Kirby: Canvas Curse Enemy and playable character Wait, you can play as a Waddle Dee while also attacking them!? That's kind of weird…
Kirby: Squeak Squad Enemy and playable character, perchance Kirby can use the Ghost ability to control a Waddle Dee. This may hint at the fact that Waddle Dees have souls, possibly being a reference to [[a certain soul boss.
Kirby Super Star Ultra First true appearance as a boss, but again Arena Waddle Dee gains a blue bandana in this game, but that's a story for another time.
Kirby's Epic Yarn Maybe he appears in a cutscene or two? The Yarn Waddle Dees aren't real Waddle Dees, so maybe Arena Waddle Dee doesn't appear.
Kirby Mass Attack Cameo in Strato Patrol EOS
Kirby's Return to Dream Land Playable character This is the first time Arena Waddle Dee is actually useful.
Kirby's Dream Collection Special Edition Various Arena Waddle Dee appears like so many times in this game, because it has multiple games in it. How crazy it that?
Kirby: Triple Deluxe Supporting character
Kirby Fighters Deluxe Why are you even reading this? He doesn't even have a role!
Dedede's Drum Dash Deluxe Reference King Dedede can wear a Waddle Dee mask, which happens to look exceptionally similar to Arena Waddle Dee. Coincidence? I think not!
Kirby and the Rainbow Curse Playable characters They're multiplying.
Kirby: Planet Robobot Supporting character
Team Kirby Clash Deluxe Supporting character This is technically a different Waddle Dee.
Kirby's Blowout Blast Enemy Since this is yet another retelling of Kirby's Dream Land, Arena Waddle Dee might be hidden among the regular enemy Waddle Dees. But that's just a theory. A Kirby theory.
Kirby Battle Royale Supporting protagonist WHY IS HE NOT PLAYABLE?
Kirby Star Allies Playable character They're multiplying. Again.
Kirby's Extra Epic Yarn This game is not extra epic.
Super Kirby Clash Supporting character This is once again technically a different Waddle Dee.
Kirby Fighters 2 Playable character Arena Waddle Dee was added as a playable character in version 3.0.0, despite Bandana Waddle Dee already being in playable.
Kirby and the Forgotten Land Supporting protagonist and playable character
Kirby's Dream Buffet Reference Kirby can impersonate Arena Waddle Dee in this game.
Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe Playable character
Super Smash Bros. series
Super Smash Bros. None What do you mean they're not in the first game?
Super Smash Bros. Melee Trophy
Super Smash Bros. Brawl Various Luigi knows the true potential of a Waddle Dee.
Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U Enemy Run.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Spirits These spirits presumably contain a big lore drop for Arena Waddle Dee.
