Story Mode, also known as Main Game and Main Mode, is the main mode of a given Kirby game, usually having the game's main storyline. It is always available from the beginning, and does not need to be unlocked.

Kirby: Planet Robobot's Story Mode is conveniently labeled as such on the mode select, like Triple Deluxe before it. In it, Kirby is tasked with reversing the takeover of the Haltmann Works Company shortly following their invasion of Planet Popstar. Within, Kirby travels through five key landmarks of the planet before entering the headquarters to take on the masterminds behind the scenes.

Kirby and the Forgotten Land

While Kirby and the Forgotten Land features nearly seamless integration of game modes, with the only menu between the title screen and gameplay being the file select, every piece of content accessed by Kirby hopping onto the central Warp Star of Waddle Dee Town to be Story Mode content. In addition, the Point of Arrival can be generally considered a part of this banner.

Various levels of Story Mode progression unlock new attractions in the main hub, with saved Waddle Dees being the metric of completion.

Games without any form of Story Mode

The following are games that lack any Story Mode, either because they do not contain modes at all, or contain various modes but none is considered a "main" or "story" one.
