Kirby Fighters 2 is a spin-off fighting game in the Kirby series announced and released for the Nintendo Switch on September 23rd, 2020 worldwide. It is a sequel to Kirby Fighters Deluxe, which was itself an expanded version of the Kirby: Triple Deluxe Sub-Game Kirby Fighters. Kirby Fighters 2 is exclusively downloadable from the Nintendo eShop and as such, no physical copy of the game exists.
The day prior to its announcement and subsequent release, knowledge of the game's existence was leaked accidentally by Nintendo.
Gameplay
Kirby Fighters 2 plays largely the same as its predecessor Kirby Fighters Deluxe, but features a slew of new content, most notably 17 different Copy Abilities to choose from, as well as five other playable characters. New to this iteration are local play options using Nintendo Switch systems and online play, as well as a new story mode and survival challenge. The story mode features boss battles against various enemies, including Twin Woods and Duo Edge.
In addition, the game features an experience system which allows the player to unlock Alternate Costumes for the characters, new Copy Abilities and new stages, much like in Kirby Battle Royale.
