Discussion for clarification

Due to poor wording on the proposal that set this project up (which I apologize for), and few unforeseen issues, the handling of the project isn't quite clear. Therefore, I'd like to open a discussion to clear up the situation, with main concerns being:

• Should we archive every external link, or only those in "References" and "External links" sections? Or maybe some other combination?
  • (I have made the proposal with archiving every link in mind.)
• Should we archive interwiki links?
  • (Gigi suggested to only do so for interwikis which are used as references, I think.)
• Should we archive videos that are embed?
  • (In my opinion, no. It's excessive.)

I feel like archiving every external link (including interwikis) would be good, with the exception of things that are just used as links to other topics because the other topics were brought up (for example, the Other sections of staff). As for embedded videos, I feel like only official videos should be archived (such as the Dream Friend trailers) and not ones made as gameplay demonstrations (like the boss playthroughs). ---PinkYoshiFan 20:45, 16 June 2023 (UTC)

I would say references should be prioritised, both interwiki and general web links. Other external links would be nice to have archived but are lower priority. It would be nice to archive trailer videos in some form (modulo copyright concerns) but they are the lowest priority and would require more thought. —willidleaway [talk | edits] 00:09, 17 June 2023 (UTC)

I think we should archive any and all references and media sources. So if any interlinks or videos are used as references or sources, they should be archived as well. I am neutral on external links, but for preservation in general (not just for the wiki), things like manuals should probably be archived. General interlinks and videos probably shouldn't be archived. Official videos I'm honestly torn but maybe should be archived. Things like gameplay videos or basically any complementary media probably doesn't need to be archived. - Gigi (talk • edits) 00:15, 17 June 2023 (UTC)

All external links should be our first priority for archival, then official videos and interwiki articles at last. Videos should probably be preserved on the Internet Archive instead of WiKirby though. Interwiki links are the least of our concerns because these wiki affiliates are to stay around and are rarely referenced as sources. ⁠–⁠Wiz (talk · edits) 10:36, 17 June 2023 (UTC)
