Reorganization[edit]

So I asked this in the Discord server a couple days ago, but I'm also asking here to better organize my questions and to make it easier to discuss. But basically, I was thinking of reorganizing this page, or at the very least the literature section of it. Right now it's formatted like the other merch pages, which makes sense to just list an image with a name and/or description, but for books, particularly considering most of the Kirby ones are Japanese only, we would probably want to include more information. I wanted to do something similar to the tables of this page of the Japanese Kirby wiki, which go image, name, editor, release date (more specifically first edition release), ISBN and notes (with some having not all of these columns). In our case we should probably use translated names for books only released in Japan, but list the original name, and perhaps we could also have a section with a quick overview of the book for some. What I'm not sure however is how we want to handle manga series and the novels: do we want to list every volume individually like we are doing right now, or should we just list the series in general with an overview of it?

I am also curious how we would like to separate the many Kirby books around. I suppose "manga", "novels" and "guidebooks" are the obvious categories, but where would books like Pupupu Taizen and Art & Style fall into? Maybe we can have "encyclopedias" and "artbooks" as well, and finally "other"? Suggestions are appreciated. Also keep in mind the page of the Japanese wiki I linked doesn't include every single Kirby book released. I don't even have a full list right now and I doubt we would be able to make a full list anytime soon, but to have an idea of what kind of Kirby books are out there at least in the present days, I think this Amazon search would be a good start, if anyone needs a reference. - Gigi (talkedits) 17:48, 14 July 2022 (UTC)

Yes, I agree that using a table for literature would make sense. For manga, I personally feel like we should just list the series in such a table and then potentially put the covers in a gallery at the bottom of the page, considering how many manga series there are. As for categories, I'm not sure how many artbooks and encyclopedias exist, but if there are enough for individual categories, these would make sense as well. Otherwise I think they could just fit under "Other". We could potentially make a picture book category or something like that for the Itsudemo Kirby books as well. Agreed. As for dealing with manga series and novels, I feel like if we have a page on the series as a whole (e.g. Kirby (novel series) and Kirby Manga Mania) then it should be a shared entry for all of them, but if we don't have a series page, then separate entries. As for the section with a brief overview, I feel like that would be unnecessary if we have individual pages on it. ---PinkYoshiFan 19:13, 14 July 2022 (UTC)
I don't personally know if we have lots of encyclopedias and artbooks to justify separate categories. I suppose I could put them in an other section at first and if it starts getting big I can split it up. - Gigi (talkedits) 20:30, 14 July 2022 (UTC)
I tried to find more info and apparently there are some encyclopedias of specific games that released a while ago, like the 星のカービィスーパーデラックス大百科 (大百科 means "large encyclopedia"). Hard to find information about them however. There are so many of these out there and sometimes it's hard to tell exactly what it covers just by the title alone. - Gigi (talkedits) 11:53, 15 July 2022 (UTC)
