Clayn[Japanese title] is an innocuous slug-like enemy that appears in Kirby's Return to Dream Land and its remake. It is first encountered in Onion Ocean. It only appears in Stage 3 of Onion Ocean and Stage 4 of Egg Engines.

Clayn is a gelatinous, limbless creature with two eye stalks. It was originally pale yellow in Kirby's Return to Dream Land, but was updated to beige in the remake. At rest, Clayn appears as a featureless, clay-like lump, hence the name. When approached, it reveals itself while wiggling, damaging anyone it touches. Clayn is not a very tough enemy, nor is it all that aggressive, but it can be hard to notice until it puffs up, which can often lead to the unwary adventurer taking a hit. In later stages, they can also be seen guarding doorways and hiding in dark places, sometimes even both.

Clayn does not yield any Copy Ability if swallowed.

Trivia[edit]

  • With careful inputs, it is possible to enter a door guarded by a Clayn without colliding with the enemy.
