This is a list of Kirby references outside of the Kirby series. For the sake of simplicity, Kirby series material within the Super Smash Bros. series is not included here. Note that many of these references are not concretely confirmed, and that this list is not exhaustive.

• The drawing song from Kirby's Adventure is parodied in Chapter 2 (Battle of the Birds): Act 4 (Train Rush) on a small TV inside the train's caboose.

Amphibia

In the episode Adventures in Catsitting, when the Plantars arrive to the vet, they perform a dance similar to the Kirby Dance, complete with similar sounding 8-bit music.

amiibo Tap: Nintendo's Greatest Bits

• By scanning an amiibo figure, it is possible to unlock playable demos of certain NES and Super NES games. Among the selection of games that can be unlocked are Kirby's Adventure, Kirby's Dream Course, Kirby Super Star and Kirby's Dream Land 3.

Animal Crossing

• In Animal Crossing for the Nintendo GameCube, a number of custom designs are available by scanning e-cards with the e-Reader. One of these designs is based on Kirby.

Arcana

• In the intro cutscene, Kirby can be seen twice during Galneon's army showcase. This reference is particularly notable due to the fact that Arcana was released precisely one month before Kirby's Dream Land in Japan, thus technically making Kirby's cameo here his first appearance in a video game.

AR Games

The Kirby AR Card

• Among the six AR Cards packed with any Nintendo 3DS system is one depicting Kirby. Scanning the card allows the player to take photos with Kirby. Additionally, the player can change Kirby's pose, with there being five poses in total: a default pose based on a render from Kirby Super Star Ultra, a pose depicting Kirby doodling himself, a pose depicting Kirby riding a Warp Star, a pose depicting Kirby with the Parasol ability and a running pose. The background music for the mode that lets the player scan this card contains a small portion of "Green Greens" to boot.

Bloons TD 6

• The description for the "Mageical Journey ~By BF10" event in week 71 of Odyssey Mode references one of the lyrics featured in the "Song of Supplication" from Kirby Star Allies.
• The "Land Of Forgotten Carmobiles ~By BF10" Odyssey in week 115 of the same mode references Kirby and the Forgotten Land with the name, in particular the car theme and the description referencing the first line of "Welcome to the New World!"

BoxBoy! series

• Score Attack, Stage 6 has Qbby collecting tokens arranged to resemble Kirby from Kirby's Adventure.

BoxBoxBoy!

• The comic "Kirby's Closet" has Qbby mimicing Copy Abilities like Fire, Hammer and Sword. The comic ends with Qbby dressed up in Ultra Sword turning around to discover Kirby has been watching him.

Bye-Bye BoxBoy!

• Scanning a Kirby-series amiibo into the game allows Qbby to wear a costume based on Kirby, King Dedede, Meta Knight, or Waddle Dee, depending on which amiibo was used. The boxes he produces while wearing these costumes resemble Star Blocks.
• The comic "So Close, Yet..." has a description referencing the Star Warriors from Kirby: Right Back at Ya!.
• Another comic named "Suit Up!" has Qbby piloting a box-made robot to mimic the Robobot Armor, but meeting Kirby in his real armor in the end.

BoxBoy! + BoxGirl!

• The comic "How to make friends!" features Qbby tossing boxes in a similar fashion to Friend Hearts from Kirby Star Allies, but accidentally hitting Kirby at the end of the comic.

Chibi-Robo! Zip Lash

• By scanning a Kirby, King Dedede or Meta Knight amiibo, a Chibi-Robo figure based off of them will become available through the Chibi-Capsule vending machine. The Kirby Pose appears to be based off of the render used for Kirby on the box art for Kirby: Triple Deluxe while the King Dedede Pose and Meta Knight Pose are based off of their renders from Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U.

Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs

At one point during the credits, a cheeseburger faces the screen and sprouts pickle slices for arms and tomato slices for feet, making it resemble Kirby. Afterwards, it begins dancing in a similar manner to the Kirby Dance.

Cookie Clicker

• One of the randomly-chosen grandma names is Zan Tart-izanne. This is one of the many names submitted by a supporter for the game on Patreon.

Dadish series

• The world intro cutscenes for the first three Dadish games resemble those from Kirby's Dream Land 2, even having a near-identical typeface used for the names of the worlds.

Daigasso! Band-Brothers

• The game features a medley of Green Greens, Forest/Nature Area and the Kirby Dance as one of the selectable tracks that can be played.

Discord chat client

Historic tab for purchasing Nitro subscriptions in Discord.

Discord, a popular chat platform, used to feature numerous Kirby cameos before it rebranded to appear more inclusive to non-gaming communities. The client's mascot, Wumpus, could be seen riding a fast motorized unicycle of likeness to Wheelie Rider, and through a forest which included Whispy Woods, in Discord's Nitro subscription-related pages. Features of the subscription such as custom emojis and extended upload limits were promoted with pictures of Wumpus riding a Warp Star and a chest containing a Maxim Tomato. The Mirror ability's magic rod was also used as a background placeholder in the client's Webhook tab, for when a Discord server does not yet have any webhooks. The client is known for having featured various references to Nintendo franchises. Wumpus riding a Warp Star and the Maxim Tomato in the chest are still visible on the Nitro pop-up feature list on the mobile app. Additionally, the April 1st, 2024 Loot Box event featured the Dream Hammer, a hammer with a handle based on the Star Rod. Unlocking the Dream Hammer played a sound effect based on "Kirby Dance".

Donkey Kong series

Donkey Konga

One of the songs that can be played is the 4Kids theme song for Kirby: Right Back at Ya!. The Japanese version of the game features the second theme from the Japanese version of the show instead.

One of the songs that can be played in the European/Australian version of the game is the Super Smash Bros. Melee arrangement of the Green Greens theme.

EarthBound

In the debug menu of EarthBound, a sprite of Kirby is used as the cursor. This is because the game was developed in part by HAL Laboratory. The sprite appears to be an early version of Kirby's sprite from Kirby's Dream Course, which was also in development at the time.

Face Raiders

• One animation on the title screen shows three enemies from the game performing a dance similar to that of the Kirby Dance. There's another animation in the game that resembles the Kirby Dance to a lesser extent. It is worth noting that HAL Laboratory, the developers of the Kirby series, also developed this game.

fu_mou

• The song "Green Night Parade" is a cover version of "Green Greens" which quotes "Float Islands" during the bridge and "Candy Mountain" during the outro. The music video for the song, which only uses the first two minutes, depicts Kirby dancing along to the song.

General Knowledge Training

In this adult intelligence training game developed by HAL Laboratory, one quiz asks the player to identify the genre of a particular song. One possible song in this quiz is a tango remix of the Gourmet Race theme.

Geometry Dash

• Added in Update 2.1 is the achievement "One for you, ten for me" (2000 diamonds), which rewards the player with a cube resembling Kirby when completed. Coincidentally, it also resembles Square Kirby, however the icon was introduced to the game two years before the latter debuted.
• Added in Update 2.2 are two new icons referencing the Kirby series:
  • The achievement "But Wait, There's Even More!" (12,000 stars) rewards a new swing depicting a hovering Kirby.
  • The achievement "Just a coin toss away" (1,600 user coins) rewards a new cube depicting Meta Knight.

• In the "Presumed Dead" ending of Fleeing the Complex, when Henry is surrounded by Wall prison guards on the edge of a cliff as Dmitri Johannes Petrov is about to send him to his doom, the Warp Star is the first of his available options to appear. The Warp Star sound effects from the original 8-bit Kirby games can also be heard.

Hobo Ka no Kenkō Techō

• This Japanese only DSiWare game features a unique arrangement of the Grape Garden theme from Kirby's Adventure. Interestingly, another rearrangement of the Grape Garden theme from Kirby: Planet Robobot, "Pocket Diary", seems to have been modeled after the arrangement from this game.

Kirby's Selecta (Juice WRLD song)

This song by American rapper Juice WRLD, which notably went unreleased and was leaked on January 15th 2019, samples the File Select theme from Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards.

MAD (TV series)

The Kirby series is referenced and parodied numerous times throughout the series. For instance, Kracko appears in the Koopa Troopa, Gutsman and Kracko sketch while Kirby himself stars in the Kirby's Star Tours sketch. Kirby also appears as a secondary character in the Diary of a Wimpy Kid Icarus sketch.

Mario series

Mario Kart 8 / Mario Kart 8 Deluxe

Kirby Mii racing suit, a Pink Biddybuggy, and the required amiibo figurine.

• By scanning a Kirby amiibo, a special racing suit based on him can be unlocked for Mii characters. As of Version 3.0.0, any Kirby-series amiibo can be used to unlock this suit.

Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga

• At the Yoshi Theater, there is a poster for a Kirby-themed movie named "Kirby Story". This in turn is referenced in Kirby and the Forgotten Land, where a "KIRBYSTORY" Present Code is hidden in the Waddle Dee Cinema.

Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins

• In the second level of the Turtle Zone, an enemy named Unibo which strongly resembles a Gordo appears.

Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island

• There is an enemy called Milde which has a superficial resemblance to Kirby, being pink and spherical with red feet and cheek blush. They are most common in Marching Milde's Fort, fourth level of World 4.

Super Mario Maker

• Three of the costumes Mario can wear using the Mystery Mushroom power-up are based off of Kirby, King Dedede and Meta Knight. Each of these costumes use sound effects from Kirby's Adventure, and are based on their sprites from that game. These costumes can be unlocked by scanning an amiibo of their respective character, or can be randomly obtained by clearing the 100 Mario Challenge. Kirby and Meta Knight can be unlocked by clearing the 100 Mario Challenge on Normal mode, while King Dedede is unlocked by clearing it on Expert mode.

Super Mario-kun

Kirby makes a cameo in volume 5 of Super Mario-kun. When Mario and his friends are being chased by Boos, Kirby appears and helps Mario and his allies by swallowing the enemies. However, Kirby gets scared by a Boo with worms on its face shortly afterward and runs away.

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie (SNES)

• The SNES version of this game has an unused sprite of Kirby left over in its code.

Miitomo

• Miitomo was a social networking app developed by Nintendo for various mobile devices, being active until its discontinuation on May 8th, 2018. Users could obtain various outfits for their Mii to wear, including some based off of the Kirby series.

Miitopia

• If the Kirby amiibo is scanned, a set of clothing usable by any Mii role is unlocked. The hat is based on Kirby, and the suit is blue and yellow with yellow stars on it.

NES Remix 2 / Ultimate NES Remix

• The NES Remix series consists of games featuring short challenges based on numerous titles released on the NES. Various challenges based on Kirby's Adventure can be found throughout NES Remix 2, and these challenges are also featured in Ultimate NES Remix.

Nintendo Badge Arcade

Badges featuring graphics from many different Nintendo series can be collected by playing a rotating selection of free-to-start claw cranes. These badges can be used to decorate the Nintendo 3DS HOME Menu.

• The "Kirby: Triple Deluxe" category contains 20 badge sets with 66 unique badges in total. These include 8 original "launcher" badges which act as special icons for launching the built-in 3DS apps.
• The "Kirby Keychain Series" category contains 52 badge sets with 257 unique badges, all based on the many Keychain sprites.

Nintendo Monopoly

• Meta Knight, King Dedede, Kirby, and a Warp Star, using their artwork from Kirby: Right Back at Ya!, appear as stations in a Nintendo-themed edition of the board game Monopoly, first released in 2006. It was later revised in 2010, with Warp Star being replaced with an Onion from Pikmin. The 2006 board also features screenshots of many Nintendo games in the centre, including Kirby's Dream Land 2, Kirby's Adventure, and Kirby Air Ride, while the 2010 board instead features a lineup of Nintendo characters, including Kirby, King Dedede, and Meta Knight.

Nintendogs + Cats

• By scanning the Kirby AR Card, the player's dog or cat will appear wearing a Kirby hat.

NoRedInk

• Kirby appears as one of the selectable interests, which adds Kirby, King Dedede, and Meta Knight as possible characters that can be mentioned in a question.
• Super Smash Bros. also appears, which includes Kirby as a possible character.

One Piece: Super Grand Battle! X

• By scanning a Kirby amiibo, a special costume for Tony Tony Chopper can be unlocked.

One Way (Wiz Khalifa song)

This song, which comes from Wiz Khalifa's 2009 mix tape Burn After Rolling, samples a track from Kirby's Adventure, specifically Level 4 Map Select.

• The character Gustavo rides a rat named Brick, who is inspired by and named after Rick.

Pokémon series

In Japanese, Snorlax is named カビゴン (Kabigon), which incorporates the Japanese writing of Kirby, カービィ (Kābyi). More specifically, Snorlax is based upon Kōji Nishino, a developer at Game Freak who was nicknamed "Kirby" due to both being known for their huge appetite.

Pokémon Stadium 2

The "My Room" feature in Pokémon Stadium 2 lets the player display their bedroom from Pokémon Gold, Silver and Crystal, and decorate it with different kinds of furniture. Among the items that can be collected and displayed are NES, SNES and N64 game consoles, and different games will appear on the TV screen when they are displayed. Kirby's Adventure and Kirby Super Star are among the different games that appear on the screen. It is worth noting that Pokémon Stadium 2 was developed in part by HAL Laboratory, the creators of the Kirby series.

Pokémon Diamond and Pearl

In Pokémon Diamond and Pokémon Pearl, there is an NPC in the Lost Tower named Roughneck Kirby. His only Pokémon is a Cleffa, a small, round and pink Pokémon that vaguely resembles Kirby. Roughneck Kirby and his Cleffa reappear in Pokémon Platinum and Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl.

Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon

Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon features an entity called "Dark Matter" as its main villain. This entity is somewhat similar in appearance and abilities to Dark Matter from the Kirby series, and even has the same name in English, French, Spanish and Japanese.

Pop Team Epic

The 0% 0% 0% glitch from Kirby Super Star is parodied in the second episode of the anime.

Protect Me, Shugomaru!

The section from the manga warning of various dangers found in the forests.

In chapter 2 of the Weekly Shōnen Jump manga Protect Me, Shugomaru!, school students take a trip to a forest to go weeding. The main protagonist named Shugomaru Tekko swore to be a personal bodyguard to a friend when they were little. The manga revolves around his tendency to do exactly opposite and be the only danger around her due to having tunnel vision, a medical condition.

One of the motives Shugomaru gives for being overly protective are possible dangers that could happen in the forest, these being a mushroom assault, apples dropping from an apple tree, and Bomb Blocks hidden within a grid of normal blocks. The friend finds these very specific motives absurd, referencing Dream Land.

Robot Chicken

Kirby appears in a sketch titled Kirby's Secret Problem in Robot Chicken's sixth season. The sketch in question focused on Kirby's Inhale and his method of defeating enemies. He later appears in a sketch parodying both the Super Smash Bros. series and The Hunger Games.

Save me Mr Tako!

The indie game Save me Mr Tako! bases its visuals on several Game Boy games, including Kirby's Dream Land and Kirby's Dream Land 2. The game's titular protagonist greatly resembles Flotzo. The game also features level hubs similar to those from Kirby's Adventure, as well as many enemies that look similar to Kirby series characters and enemies.

Scott Pilgrim vs. the World: The Game

Each character has their own exit animation after beating a level, and each reference a different game. Kim Pine warps off the screen via a smiling star resembling a Warp Star.

Segagaga

• Some of the monsters fought at the DOGMA HQ resemble warped, grotesque versions of Nintendo characters. Kirby is one of the characters parodied here.

Skullgirls

• One of the costumes for Big Band is based on King Dedede, called "Dream Band".
• One of the costumes for Annie of the Stars is based on Meta Knight, with her Parasite Sagan using Kirby's colors.

Star Fox Zero

• In the animated video promoting Star Fox Zero, "Star Fox Zero - The Battle Begins", a magazine in Slippy Toad's possession has several planet names from Milky Way Wishes on it (namely Floria, Aqualiss, Mecheye, and Halfmoon).

StreetPass Mii Plaza

• The player can dress their Mii in a variety of unlockable hats and outfits, as well as selecting a themed speech balloon, for when they meet other players via StreetPass in this pre-installed collection of mini-games. Several of these outfits and one speech balloon are based on the Kirby series.
• In the Puzzle Swap mini-game, players exchange pieces of large image panels featuring a variety of games and characters. Once a panel is completed, it becomes an animated diorama (with limited camera movement). The following Kirby panels are available: Kirby's Dream Land, Kirby's 20th Anniversary, Kirby's Return to Dream Land, Kirby: Triple Deluxe, Kirby Fighters Deluxe / Dedede's Drum Dash Deluxe, and Kirby: Planet Robobot.
  • Kirby characters also appear in the panels for Ultimate NES Remix and Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U.

Stunt Race FX

• In the Super NES game Stunt Race FX, a number of billboards can be found on some of the courses which depict Kirby, as he appears in artwork for Kirby's Adventure.

• Scanning a Kirby amiibo unlocks a Kirby-shaped purse accessory in four alternate colors (pink, yellow, blue and green).

Style Savvy: Styling Star

• Scanning a Kirby series amiibo unlocks an Invincible Candy emblem, which can be applied to various designer items, shopping bags and three Kirby-themed t-shirt designs.

Super Cat Tales series

Super Cat Tales 2

World 4-4 (Into the Storm) shares similar aesthetics with that of Cloudy Park - Stage 3 from Kirby's Dream Land 3.

• Some songs for the game, including the music for some of the stages in World 4, use a soundfont resembling that of the one used in Kirby Super Star.
• World 4-4: Into the Storm is themed similarly to Stage 3 of Cloudy Park from Kirby's Dream Land 3. Both stages feature bodies of water situated in stormy clouds. The main developer of the game, Neutronized, confirmed that this stage was inspired by Kirby's Dream Land 3.

Super Cat Tales: PAWS

Super Cat Tales: PAWS is a game that is also inspired by Kirby's Dream Land 3, which in turn influences various design choices including aesthetics.

• The background used in World 1-?: Pollen Panic somewhat resembles the backgrounds from various Grass Land stages in Kirby's Dream Land 3.
  • It should be noted that this game is mentioned by Neutronized to have also taken inspiration from said game, influencing some design choices in aesthetics.
• Most of the game's soundtrack makes prominent usage of various instruments from Kirby's Dream Land 3, especially the Roland D-20 - I-A53: Pan Pipes preset and bell pad instrument.
  • The game's Mid-Boss theme bears similarities to the "Room Guarder" mid-boss theme from Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards.

Super Famicom Box system

Super Famicom Box was a special pay-per-play model of Super Famicom used in Japanese hotels. While it contained no Kirby games, the start sequence of the console has a Kirby animation and a soundtrack from Kirby's Dream Course. It is believed that HAL Laboratory assisted in its development, and included Kirby as a signature of their work.

Super Meat Boy Forever

• The Drawing Song from Kirby's Adventure is parodied in the introduction cutscene for Chapter 6. Different Meat Boy characters are partly drawn with saw blades, but glitched out halfway through, and variously captioned.

Taiko no Tatsujin series

Taiko no Tatsujin: Dokodon! Mystery Adventure

• Kirby and King Dedede make a guest appearance in this game, serving as the battle members. The "Kirby's Dream Land Medley", based on music from Kirby's Return to Dream Land, is also available to play. Both of these appearances return in the Taiko no Tatsujin Rhythmic Adventure Pack, the Nintendo Switch port of this game and its predecessor.

• From Taiko no Tatsujin: Red Ver. onward, the "Kirby's Dream Land Medley" is playable on the arcade edition. Clearing this song unlocks a costume based upon Kirby. Starting in the Yellow Ver., the "Revenge of Meta Knight Medley" is added, and clearing it unlocks a costume based upon Meta Knight.

• Kirby himself appears as one of the unlockable performing characters. The Kirby costume reappears in this game, albeit available from the start. The "Kirby's Dream Land Medley" is also playable in this version.

Taiko no Tatsujin: Rhythm Festival

• A medley of tracks from Kirby Star Allies, titled the "Kirby Star Allies Medley", is among the selectable tracks in this version. The included tracks are "Twinkle☆Stars", "Green Gardens", and "A Battle of Friends and Bonds."

There are five Kirby-based themes in Tetris 99, each themed after a different game:

The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth

• One of the many co-op babies in the Afterbirth DLC resembles Meta Knight, even being called "Dream Knight Baby."
• The item "Suplex!", added in the Repentance DLC, functions nearly identically to the Suplex Copy Ability: Isaac charges forward, grabs an enemy if one is in front of him, and suplexes it.

The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening

• An enemy known as Anti-Kirby appears in this game, with a near-identical appearance to Kirby and the same inhaling abilities as well. Takashi Tezuka refers to them as "Kirby", while the game's Nintendo Player's Guide calls them "Kirby's evil twins". Additionally, in the Nintendo Switch remake of the game, Kirby's model from Kirby Star Allies was reused for the enemy, with the only change being the texture used.
• The Sea Urchin enemy greatly resembles Gordo.

The Legendary Starfy / Densetsu no Starfy (GBC)

• An unnamed underwater spike enemy in the canceled Game Boy Color version of Densetsu no Starfy bears resemblance and functions of Gordo.

Whipseey and the Lost Atlas

• Whipseey and the Lost Atlas shares many similarities to the Kirby series gameplay-wise, particularly older titles such as Kirby's Adventure. Furthermore, the game's protagonist bears a striking resemblance to that of Kirby himself.

World War Blue

World War Blue is a fantasy manga series and anime adaptation about console wars between Nintendo and Sega. One of the characters in the Ninteldo Empire faction is Karvai (カーヴァイ), who is based on Kirby. The manga reveals Karvai's origins as an experiment in HAL Laboratory created by Rarara (Lalala), but eventually abandoned until further notice. Rarara felt guilty and sad about leaving her behind; Karvai is eventually found by Zelig (Link) who tests her strength and decides to take her in for the "Ninteldo Army". Karvai is capable of copying her opponents' powers and is usually equipped with a large hammer, like that of King Dedede.

Yoshi's Woolly World / Poochy & Yoshi's Woolly World

• In both games, by scanning a corresponding amiibo, costumes based on Kirby, King Dedede, and Meta Knight can be unlocked. Additionally, Poochy & Yoshi's Woolly World features a Waddle Dee costume, also unlocked by scanning the corresponding amiibo.
• The opening measure of the music that plays for the level Yoshi and Cookies is a rearrangement of the Flower Fields theme from Kirby's Epic Yarn and Kirby's Extra Epic Yarn, as both games (and their respective remakes) were developed by Good-Feel and composed by Tomoya Tomita.

In the eleventh episode of the anime's third season, titled YuruYuri San☆Hai!, a blue Kirby appears in a page of a gaming magazine next to a Sailor Moon-inspired character.
