"Vocal Volcano"[1] is a music track that first appeared in Kirby: Squeak Squad, and is associated with the level of the same name, Vocal Volcano.

Composition[edit]

Kirby exploring the volcano.

"Vocal Volcano" is a dramatic piece primarily set on the key of A minor. It opens with a drum only intro, then a brass instrument plays a sinister chord, then a low pitch string instrument plays a melody with long notes, then a high pitch string instrument plays a steady array of short notes. The sinister chord plays again, and the drums transition the song to its next section, that has the main melody played by the "ARR1" synth, as the low string continues its countermelody with different notes; the high string also appears at the end of the first half with its array of notes. The second half is similar, but now has an arpeggio playing over and over in the background, very similar to the beginning of Dark Nebula Battle. The melody of this section resolves, and the drums transition the song to its last section, which consists of a conversation between the sinister chord and the low strings. In particular, this section transitions from 4/4 time to 5/4 time, with the extra beat being added to accommodate the chord. It ends on the string hanging up on a note as most instruments go silent, another instrument hangs a note, and a glockenspiel concludes the melody with a couple notes. The song then loops back to its intro.
