It allows Kirby to perform one of several beam attacks, such as a magical beam whip attack, which is useful for hitting switches, Bomb Blocks, and Star Blocks behind solid walls in order to get to hidden areas and items. Kirby Fighters 2

Beam Kirby returns in Kirby Fighters 2 as one of the abilities the player can choose from. It is unlocked after reaching Fighters Rank 10, and plays much the same as it has in the preceding titles.

 Kirby charges up a large sphere of energy and then shoots it straight forward.

It can travel a long distance, but will disappear after a short moment, making it unable to reach all the way across certain stages. It will pass through opponents and objects, but not through walls.

Capture Beam
Either ↑/→ + B near an enemy
 Kirby uses energy to hold his foe in place. He can then release his foe with another B press and shoot several small beam attacks at them in the process.

While holding a foe, Kirby can change direction, but cannot move. If he does nothing, the foe will escape after 5 seconds with no damage.

Beam appears under a different guise as the role Beam Mage from the Kirby Clash series of spin-off titles. The only major difference between the abilities is that Beam Mage's "Wave Beam" is upgraded into the "Time Beam", which can be charged to three different levels of power, and stops time for an enemy when they are hit enough times with the move.

 Kirby in a jester cap...and a supercute Kirby at that. Beam Kirby features a Beam ability, acquired by inhaling Waddle Doo, that allows him to shoot a whip-like beam at his enemies. With a wide attack range, this ability is extremely easy to use, especially for taking out enemies in bunches. In Template:KSS KFP, this beam can also be charged and fired.

 American English: Waddle Doo can fire beams from his eye. Does that make you green with envy? Then inhale him and copy that ability! You'll then be able to shoot beams from a wand, and the attack can even be charged up for greater effectiveness. You can also use a beam to push switches or to grab and toss your foes.

British English: Ever felt jealous of a Waddle Doo's ability to fire beams from its eye? Well, if you're Kirby, there's really no need - swallow one and you, too, can swing energy beams to your heart's content! Charge them up to plough through multiple enemies at once, use them to grab and throw enemies, and even press switches through walls! Yeah!

Trivia

  • Beam is the very first Copy Ability that can be obtained in the Kirby series, and has appeared in nearly every main series installment since then.
    • In Kirby Star Allies, this is mentioned on the pause menu flavor text of Guest Star Waddle Doo: "It was the first Copy Ability that anyone ever got, and the origin of all abilities that came later! So much potential from a beam! And now, he wants to see why the beam... bends!"
    • Despite this, the actual first Copy Ability introduced in the game itself is Fire, as seen in the tutorial reel for Kirby's Adventure.
  • In Kirby Fighters Deluxe, the alternative hat for Beam Kirby resembles Marx's.
  • In artwork for Template:KSS KFP and its remake, the Beam ability hat is depicted as red on the left and orange on the right, with stars on both sides. In all other games, it is depicted as the reverse, orange on the left and red on the right; additionally, only the orange side has stars.
