A Protective Bag (originally just called bag)[1] is an object present in Kirby's Dream Land 2, often found in rooms containing Mid-Bosses. Once all foes guarding the bag have been defeated, the bag will drop if it was hanging from a chain and open up, revealing one of Kirby's friends. Usually, this will be either Rick, Kine, or Coo, but if Kirby is already with the friend that is being rescued, Gooey or girl blob (Chao in the Japanese version) could also appear from a bag. If a bag lands on Kirby, it will knock him back as if he was hurt, but deal no damage.
