"Explanations" is a theme from Kirby's Return to Dream Land and Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe that plays when viewing Pro Tips for Challenge Stages, as well as when deleting a save file. It was composed by Jun Ishikawa.[1]
Composition[edit]
"Explanations" is a somewhat goofy theme in C major and 4/4. The goofiness in its context can serve as a more intimidating factor due to its often negative context. The instrumentation is similar to "Raisin Ruins", "Sandy Wilds", "Perfect Sledding Weather" and the like. The theme features a C-D bass ostinato and two main phrases. The first starts immediately and is presented within a pentatonic in all of its later iterations, played by two different synthesized wood-wind instruments and an accordion in E minor. The second phrase loses its pentatonic characteristic and features descending stepwise motion from different pitches (primarily in F minor), heard from a pan flute and synth with a banjo accompaniment, ending with chromatically rising tremolos. The two sections repeat with some phrasing and instrumentation changes. The track then loops.

Kirby's Return to Dream Land / Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe[edit]
In Kirby's Return to Dream Land and its remake, "Explanations" plays when viewing Pro Tips for Challenge Stages, as well as in the file deletion menu. It can be found as track 85 in the Sound Test of the original game and track 134 in the Jukebox of the remake.
Kirby's Dream Collection Special Edition[edit]
In Kirby's Dream Collection Special Edition, the theme reprises its role as the Pro Tips music for the New Challenge Stages.
Kirby: Triple Deluxe[edit]
In Kirby: Triple Deluxe, "Explanations" is reused as the file deletion menu theme. It can be found as track 063 in the Jukebox.
Kirby Star Allies[edit]
In Kirby Star Allies, "Explanations" serves as the Game Over screen's Continue theme. It is known as コンティニュー（星ほしのカービィ Wii）(Continue (Kirby's Return to Dream Land)) on Kirby Star Allies: The Original Soundtrack and can be found as track 071 in the Jukebox.
